I've been after a VHT/Fryette for a long time, and when I had the funds could never find one, but the stars finally aligned and I was able to snag this D120. I'm loving it so far. I've never owned a single channel amp before and am very impressed with the versatility and range just by adjusting the guitar's volume. Even with the gain up in the "More" mode, I'm able to get usable clean sounds by rolling off the volume. The clarity and note separation are top notch. It will take a little getting used to the feel and the dryness, but with high amounts of Gain II it can get plenty saturated. I really like how the design has a Gain I and Gain II. There is so much tonal flexibility between just those 2 knobs, I wish more amps were designed like this. It also sounds amazing with a boost in front (it loves my Airis Savage Drive and my SD 805).

I think this one's gonna be a keeper for me. I already ordered an effects loop kit from Fryette and plan to add a footswitchable Less/More mod myself. I do think this is the absolute loudest amp I've ever played. I jammed with my drummer on Thursday and with the volume at just 9 o'clock I was able to keep up easily with him, and he's a very hard-hitting drummer. Full band practice on Sunday so I'm excited to play it with the full mix.

It also sounds killer in stereo with the Peavey. The amps mix together very well.

Congrats!

I had a D60 and it absolutely killed. It had a factory installed loop and I'd play it with an mxr 10 band in the loop/ts9 out front and it was glorious. I agree with you regarding the two gain knobs! There were so many tones/textures to be had with those two knobs and the mids knob on the D60 was also a very powerful tone shaper.

Even the D60 was LOUD. And the punch that amp had was ridiculous. I still want to try a UL

Enjoy

Yeah, I still want to play/own an Ultra Lead someday. It's a bucket list amp for me, especially now since I know I really like the VHT/Fryette sound.

Nice! I have a sig:x that I love but it has sat for a while. I need to get KT88's for it, and I have too many amps and not enough space or cabs.

Badass amps though! That is for sure.

I think your going to find they sit in a band mix perfect. The punch from these amps is awesome.
It's the loudest amp I have owned also.

Mind any small animals and elderly people in the vicinity when that thing starts moving air

Amazing amps - I've always said Fryette/VHT are highly underrated amps; some of the best out there for sure. Just no Kool-Aid needed...people who own 'em know 'em.

Congratz!!

When I had the D60, I was playing it one day and had it wound up; it rattled 4 light bulbs loose in the bathroom to the point they completely unscrewed from the fixture and smashed on the vanity. That f%cking amp will move air!

Oh yeah, that is an amp i always wanted to try out since i heard the Unearth album III In the eyes of fire. They recorded that album with D120 amps. I love the sound of it, very dry and tight, punchy mids. Very articulate.

I own a UL and it is fabulous. I boost it with a Savage Drive also and damn, get out of the way or your balls will unscrew and smash to the ground!!! Lol

Seriously, it thumps hard.

I was running a stack and it would vibrate things off the wall in the next room.

I can’t say enough good things about the Deliverance... congratulations.

I agree with everyone..they are fantastic amps and both the 60/120 are different enough to own both....the clarity is up there with all the best; SLO, Wizard, C+.....the 120 has the extra thump for more modern tone.
Congrats!

Congrats

These amps check so many boxes. Bucketlist amp for sure.

Anyone else out there with a D120? What ma do you shoot for when biasing for the best tone? The tubes that were in it were the original from the factory and had drifted as much as 12ma. I measured each tube and they ranged from 37ma to 49ma. I ordered a quad of EH KT88’s and without changing the bias they are reading from 44ma to 46ma. The amp sounds good with the new tubes, just curious if you any of you are running them hotter or colder.

The clip sounded really good. I tried out one of these when they were new. It was awesome but I had enough amps at that time.
