VHT 100CL here

Love love love VHT's & don't find them particularly "dry".
Punchy & defined even with GOBS of gain...hell yeah

I use mine on half power
Green channel
EQ in O'clocks
Gain 1:30
Channel vol 10
Treble 2
Mids 1
Bass 10:30
Amp boost on
Master vol 2:30
Boost pedal: OCD, Shiba drive or Koko boost for mondo saturation if required

Fryette makes some of my favorite amps .... congratulations

Howe dare some one would not use more midrange than bass or Tribble. Remember what happened to the Enterprise and Captain Kirk ?

A friend of mine always talked about what a piece of junk the Enterprise was .... every time they go some place there is a bunch of sparks and explosions on the bridge .... would you drive a car that did that ?

Yeh the Pittbulls have a nice Dry tight Rhythm sound to them..

Mid police will come get me if I get involved in settings..

Don't get me started on the mid Nazis man, I've noticed it's mostly hardcore Marshall guys who are like that....IMO :D They are also the guys I've noticed who don't like to put the presence up over 3.

LOL!
My mids are on 7-8 and my presence is at 5 and I'm what most would consider a hardcore Marshall guy.

  I almost had you pegged Vlad, with your low presence and high mids. You've got a good reason to be a marshall guy, your Marshall smokes  My mid/are almost the opposite of yours, mids are around 4 and presence is usually at 7-8 except for my MarkIII where it's at 10. I think it depends on how mid heavy the amp is though and whether it's in a band setting or not, there's no general rule for me, I usually dial by ear.

Words to live by. seriously.

You did you fucker... LOL! :D
Yeah I dial in everything by ear. It depends on the amp.

Had a 100 cl and a clx loved both amps will own a vht again someday maybe a ul.

Congrats and enjoy vht's

 congrats! I've been rocking my 50 CL for a few years, never lettin go!

Super versatile!

If you want Clean/diry... use the red for clean, Channel volume up, (8,9) Gain is your master. (SS Rectifier)
Green channel-Dirty, Gain to taste, Channel volume for master. (Tube Rectifier)

I Always leave the "Master" Volume on 5-6 or more(If gigging) and use the Channel volumes for level.

Hints, Set the red "Clean" channel with your volume on guitar backed off a little, or on the neck Pick up if possible, for a nice clean tone.
Then when you turn up it and dig in it will "Grit" a little, and when you hit the Boost on the pedal (Adding a gain stage), you will get Crunch! THEN (I love this amp) switch to the Green channel for a ripping lead, or switch in the EQ, for a tailored lead boost. Or switch in the Loop with your preffered delay and boost waiting in there. Or go to all those boost/lead options from the Green channel and tear it up!
That's like, 9 variables with just the footswitch, and Guitar controls.

Literally from a SRV palatte to EVH, to Dokken, with one amp.

 That's waht I'm talkin about!

Thx for all the input and enthusiastic comments. Gonna try all the suggestions.

I read somewhere that some prefer to crank the master volume and then use the channel volume as the master (sort of). Anyone have experience with this?

I also noticed a few comments elsewhere that VHT's should be paired with VHT cabs. Currently I use Celestion G12-K100's (in a Marshall AV cab). Would there be a drastic improvement when I would switch to VHT fat bottom cab? Obviously, this is all personal taste, but I'm asking anyway.

Thx man, gonna try it. I noticed that the EQ is very sensitive.

Yeah it is VERY sensitive. You can hear a very noticeable difference by the slightest adjustment on mine.

Ive played my CLX through many different cabs and nothing comes close the the sound of my FB 4x12. Its complements the amp in every way.

you should try this with any amp with master and channel volumes.

High channel volumes and lower master volume give more power amp distortion by hitting it harder.

higher master and less channel give more power amp headroom.

two different sounds. try it.

Ya dude, see my volume suggestions above.... I always run the master up!
Can't make suggestions cab wise, I'm running 2x12's with v30's.... a very unique mids situation!

Your clips made me look into VHT again. That Carcass cover has a massive sound.

Thx for the explanation, already working on it!
