I had never played a Mesa amp until walking into my local mom/pop guitar store Friday. There sat a dead mint 2014 Multiwatt Dual Recto and after plugging in and wanking off for a bit I decided I needed a Mesa.

So my initial impression is that the tone fits what I always thought the Recto tone would sound like in person: Relatively raw with a bit of a grainy texture, and not the most upper mid focused nor super articulate sound. It's a big, bold, nasty tone, and I'm liking it :D Clean boosted on either the red ch or orange ch and with the eq in the loop, it's a pretty grinding brutal tone. I brought it home Saturday night and got about an hour on it, and then got up this morning plugged in with a migraine and recorded these short little chug a chug riffs on both the Red ch and orange ch. Can't believe I waited so long to try a Mesa

Signal chain: Migraine headache>Carvin St300c w/ BK Painkiller bridge>Ts9>Amp>MXR in loop>ZoomH2n on top of empty pickup boxes>on top of beer coolers.

***Sorry about the ambient noise, the beer cooler handles must have been rattling :aww:

The reborn/multi-watts are great amps and actually quite versatile. They get the hard rock/metal label, but they can do a lot more. A boosted recto with any TS variant (I like the Maxon OD 808) in front, EQ in the loop (MXR for me) and a mesa cab is something to experience....

I did not expect this level of versatility. I plugged into the green ch this morning and was stunned at all the great tones to be had just on that ch alone

Thank you sir! I put Mesa on the back burner for far too long; it was time

Congrats, I love mine. Criminally underrated amongst all the other Recto hype.

Thanks! Its a heck of an amp.

Hard to beat a good Dual Rec and the MultiWatts are insane. Boost it and you have, in my opinion, one of the best metal tones ever. Congrats man!

Thank you gents! Yeah it's quite the monster and has quite the arsenal of useful features. It's a new and unique tone for me. Can't say anything else I have/had is in the same vein.

This amp has some of the most vulgar, guttural, visceral, and wonderfully disgusting low mids ever  Orange ch set to spongy/rectifier tracking, slightly boosted with a Ts9 (w/ dying battery) gets the most awesome and evil old-school death metal tones :rawk:

I used to think the FB100 had some of the most vulgar low mids....   ....not even close compared to this Recto.

I;m gonna have fun with this amp :D

That's so awesome, sounds like you're really having fun with it!! Glad you got this one... there are a ton of tones in there, as I know you're discovering. TS9/808 seem to be the most popular boosts and definitely the EQ in the loop. And yeah, that clean channel is really nice, too!

Congratulations!!

:rawk:

Nice! I am in the boat of wanting another Recto lately! I had a Rev E that was awesome, but would love to try a multiwatt. What do you think of it vs the Uber??

Thanks man! I plan on picking up an Airis Savage drive, so we'll see how it fairs with that as well. I have to tip my hat to you and Wizard of Oz for the answers to my questions on this amp

While the Club 40 was a great amp, this will get much more use as I primarily play metal. But for the times I want to crank out some vintage rock n rolla or heavy blues this amp seems capable of that too!

You are most welcome. I knew you’d dig it. :2thumbsup:

Some boost info: Tried a bunch thru mine today... the Savage Drive is great, highly recommended... I also dig the Thorpy Gunshot a lot as well. It keeps the tone thick/full while boosting. Maxon OD9 is hard to beat too. VFE Dragon is good for the boosted mid/modern sound.

And if you haven’t tried it yet... orange channel, raw mode.
