This brand spanking new Naked came along after I had got my Axe FX and concentrated on getting it dialed in for gigging. Played the Naked a few minutes and was going to sell it, only because I didn't need it for anything in particular. Anyway, been out messing with it for a few hours and this fucker rips. Had to do a little tube rolling to tame it a bit and get it dialed in. I had one of the original Naked's a few years back and I don't remember it being anywhere near this stealthy. These new trannies that Dave is using really gives it loads of girth and depth. I ended up putting a 5751 in V1 and an NOS Tungsram in V2. I know the amp is supposed to be a replica of Billy Howerdell's amp, but with everything going on in this amp, it is almost like Marshall met Mark IV. It's got a very cool thing going on.

Will throw some clips up here tomorrow. And, it's not for sale now. Gonna bond for a while..... :D

Glad to hear it, Steve. I was concerned you might have gotten lost in the AxeFX... Been listening to a lot of APC lately. Definitely some of the coolest modern day guitar tones. They were great live during the Mer De Noms era. Oh, hey my BE100 arrived today...gotta plug 'er back in.....

Sweet man.....I have tossed stuff to the curb to early as well and regretted it. :aww:
Rock that Puppy!

You will enjoy the BE. Its the Swiss Army knife of guitar amps and does several things really well and stays in the Marshall camp.

The Naked has its own thing going on harmonically and the gain structure is different and I can't quite put my finger on it. The first couple APC albums were great, but I can't really identify an amp or this amp with his recorded tone. He always has a fair amount processing and Axe FX providing FX. Maybe its just my ears today, as I played my IIC+ and Dual Rec the last few days, but I swear this thing gets a very cool Master of Puppets recorded tone. The new Naked, sounds different than the original Naked, best I remember. Much different than a hot-rodded Marshall tone. Which, is great for me.

The Axe is easy. I have it set up and dialed in. Plug and play now with it and for ready for travel. :D But, at the end of the day, I got to play some tube amps through real cabs every once in a while though to maintain my erection.

And, as always with Dave's amps, he is just an email away. I had some questions last night. Within a few minutes, the replies came back.

This is why, no offense to the other amp guys out there I will only buy or have something modded he is involved with. Like all of them, he can be slow but Dave actually cares about all of his customers and will reply to email and talk to you on the phone.

Yeah, the BE is amazing. Super happy with it so far. I'm pretty sure Billy Howerdel's been playing the Naked live for quite some time. Anyways, he had great tone when I saw him. How has the the mk.2 of the production Naked changed in your opinion? It certainly looks better.

It changed a hell of a lot Zack, since the first version. To me, the original was a smoothed out hot-rod Marshall with a little more note definition than say a JMP. The new Naked has much more bottom end, growl and girth. It's an interesting amp for sure. Nothing like the BE/HBE or Marsha era. The one I have is the Prototype. I am sure when Dave gets this into production, it will be a winner. It also has a new (new for Dave) tube-driven FX loop design.

Clips coming though. But, my ipad is now full of Jack Daniels. How you may ask?

1) Wife brings me a fresh JD & Coke. Take a sip and set on the mixer road case.
2) Strap on a guitar.
3) Went to pull the ipad out of the Mackie mixer, slipped out of my hand and hit the floor and shattered the glass.
4) Turned to pick it up and headstock clipped the fresh drink and it hits the floor.
5) Fill ipad full of whiskey.

Picking up my new naked at George's place the day after Christmas!

Would love to hear a clip of the Naked...

+1 on the clipage there Steve o King-a-ling.

I Think it would be a good match with my bluey VH4?!?!

I am curious to on what speakers your using as well Steve.
I just got mine Naked yesterday from the4thlast1 and this freakin amp crushes!
At the moment i am using and custom Mojo Marshall Vintage 2x12 cab loaded with Celestion G12M Heritage Greenbacks. Sound fantastic!
My plans were to eventually get a Friedman cab with Scumbacks BM-75.

Hey, besides looks. Can anyone get a bit more in depth with the difference between the new and older version of the naked? Is it totally revoiced? ...essentially a new amp with the same name?

The Naked has had a small technical problem. I think I have it sorted though. Clippage coming....

It's not a new version this is the original version. Only difference is the transformers. These are the same one's I used with billy Howerdel's amps.

Hey Dave, by chance, if you remember, my Naked had the original transformer in it correct?
