hey guys.

i'm looking to add some a few new pedals to my board to mix things up a bit and i've narrowed it down to a few choices in some different categories. these pedals would mostly be played through an orange dual terror (with NO FX LOOP, so keep that in mind) and will be combined alongside a t-rex tonebug reverb, mxr m109 eq (for cleans), boss ce-5 analog chorus, mxr carbon copy, mxr dual inductor wah, korg blackout tuner, and either isp decimator or boss ns2 for noise gate, so let me know which ones would all mesh nicely with each other! the choices as follows:

comp:
henretta engineering orange whip
keeley 4-knob comp
walrus audio deep six comp
red witch grace comp
wampler ego squasher
pigtronix philosopher's tone
whirlwind rochester red box
(already own(ed) mxr dynacomp)

overdrive (to be used primarily as a gain thickener, but also on its own from time to time):
catalinbread CB30
visual sound open road
suhr riot
fuchs plush cream overdrive
LS effect mammajamma overdrive
divided by 13 highball
mad professor little green wonder
fulltone plimsoul
(already own(ed) maxon od808, fulltone ocd)

phase/flange/vibe/trem:
lovepedal pickle vibe
fuchs plush creme de la trem
blackout whetstone phaser
subdecay baby quasar phase shifter
providence phase force
(already own(ed) mxr phase 90/script/evh, boss ps3)

if anyone has any good or bad things to say about any of the above mentioned, please fee free to share your opinions. any additional recommendations would also be welcomed!

There are so many combinations of pedals that work well together... I've been having a good time with a modded Boss comp, Boss booster/feedbacker, modded Phase 90 (R28 mod) Russian Muff, BB+ pre, Lovepedal Eternity, Voodoo Lab Microvibe (want to upgrade eventually), Carbon copy and DL4. Tons of others too, but these ones are getting the most love lately.

I want a Strymon Timline badly, and a great germanium fuzz (MJM London Fuzz maybe, or a JHS Pollinator) For now I'm getting cool fuzz tones from the Russian Muff in combination with my BB.

I haven't tried a lot of the pedals you listed, but I can say that the Whetstone Phaser is the best I've heard, and the Pigtronix philosopher is amazing. Check out the JHS stuff too. Top quality.

nice list there =0

i'd add a Barber Tone press to the list of comp pedals, if you get the chance to try one out, well worth the money imo, wish the enclosure was smaller but that's about it,

given the amp i'd look into maybe some kind of clean/treble boost to go alongside what you already have to add some extra options, but you could probably just setup the maxon for a cleanish boost setup, the other guitarist in the band uses a dual terror with various pedals

treble booster + OCD with the amp set on a dirty kind of clean through a greenback cab sounds killer

Blackout Whetstone - I currently have one on my board. The actual sounds achievable are all done well here, albeit, the different tones can cumbersome to dial in. From a band perspective, its a set it either as one specific setting that capture the majority of what you do or it can provide you wiht the one specific sound you want. TL DR Whetstone has uses live but it shines in the bedroom. Alll in all, a great phaser

Subdecay phasers - go straight for the deluxe. Easy to dial in and switch on the fly between many phase tones, if you're into that. They are high quality sounds, so you may miss out on the pure-ness if you will, with the Whetstone

I will agree here. Like the Barber, has a blend knob and sounds great. Also like the Keeley.

For drives, I am a TS808 guy mainly, but I also like the Xotic stuff, RC Booster (has treble and bass adjustment knobs) and the BB pre (can do slight gain to pretty decent amounts of gain and sounds smooth)

I don't use many other pedals, so I am not much help with phase/trem/flange etc...

Sounds like it will be a really cool board. Have fun putting it together, then take pics and show us

Comp:
-From the ones you listed I'd either go with the keepley 4-knob or philospher's tone
-Wampler's ego comp is worth checking out as well

Overdrive:
-I'd go with either the od808 or ocd if what you're looking to do is just add a little "flavor"
-For me personally the klon is the end all for this-but that isn't reasonable
-Perhaps check out the koko boost as well

Phase/Flange/Vibe/Trem
-Whetstone is supposed to be really good but I haven't tried any on your list
-My favorite phase: HBE Psilocybe phaser
-My favorite trems: Dr. Scientist Tremolescence or Goat Keeper

+1 on the Xotic stuff, got an EP booster and a BB pre, great pedals

the BB is one of my all time favourites, can set it up for a boost/mild oD and more, really like what it does to my tone

thanks for all the great feedback thus far guys!

I currently own an v4 ocd, but have been aching to get my hands on a v3. as far as thickening up an already dirty channel, is it even worth it tto spend the time searching and the money on one if I find it for a reasonable price? would I really norice that much of a difference if I'm primarily using it as a boost/saturator?

+1 on the Barber, between the blend knob and the internal trim pot to adjust the tone, it's top notch  The Barber and a ISP decimator will always be on my board. I had the V4 OCD, nice pedal but if you have played and older one like V.1,V2 or V3 the are MUCH better, IMO. Older ones have a blue LED. Older versions seem more transparent and the knobs have a better range/sweep and feel to me. I replaced it with a Suhr Riot after about a month. If you can find a cheap older OCD it's totally worth it.

coincidence of all coincidences - after searching and searching for a v3 ocd for under $200 for yeeeears, i finally, literally JUST bought one on ebay for $119. let's hope it's not a scam.
