Get an Engl Steve Morse if you can find one. Marshall flavor, ton of tone, Midi, 2 fantastic loops, sounds great at tv volumes, 2 masters etc. etc etc. Ive owned over 20 amps and will never get rid of this one, its that good. YMMV.
Heard those were good amps....thx

I can honestly say my Steavens Poundcake is beyond incredible for what you are looking for its a no brainer for my asking price![/quote

Thx...dont kno a thing about those....will look into a bit

I'm gonna suggest a Fryette/VHT Deliverance 60. If you find one used they are 7-999 usually. You can send it to Fryette to have the loop put in for 300. Reminds me of an SLO in so many ways, very Marshally but can be very thick with plenty low end. Very articulate, and sounds great low but like an SLO gets better as you turn it up. The new ones list for 1999 and have a loop plus a foot switchable more/less for the gain. Only 2 amps I liked best without a boost, this is one of them. Any Cameron modded Marshalls are the other. Even with the gain set to more I could clean it up really well with the guitar volume.

If only we all had a chance to play through all these great amps, our search would be MUCH easier.... Good luck!

Have you ever tried MTS amps???? For 2000 you can get handwired, tube tones from all the above listed amps?

I know it's Randall built and that's hard to swallow but the modified modules smoke!

Either you borrow money from someone and you get yourself a BE 100. End of tour search.

Or......

Play the buy sell thing forever.

On a side note, ever consider a sig X. A have one and god damn was i empressed. Does everything and does it well too. Just a thought.

Thanks... I had the BE100... nice amp but at the time I had others that were better I thought. Might be different now but I still think its an overpriced amp a bit for what you get. It's nice tho.

I had one of the first editions and didn't really bond with it. This is my third and latest edition and it is a big improvement over the previous versions.

I know it's an amp that i will keep for a long long time, if not forever.

Good luck with your search.

Like I mentioned, if you can, check out the Sig X, you will be impressed. Also, with the way the footswitch works, you have so much flexibility in tone selection, it's really awesome.

I still have mine and it rocks. Super tight and smooth. Hard to get sometimes.

Again, good luck in your search.

Chris

If I had your requirements I'd buy a JVM 410 and a 300 watt Marshall cab, used you should be under $1500 for the pair. Then get a G-major and a midi pedal and you are done. I gigged in a variety cover band for 2 years with that rig. As long as you keep the gain on OD 1 and 2 under 4 it will rip. Or get a good modded Marshall and play all of that stuff with your sound.

I would recommend a Mesa Boogie Mark V, or maybe a second hand IV. The Mark IV's are currently selling at very low prices right now... in the 1 grand territory. I know you said you don't really dig Mesa's, but I think you should give one a try. They are the ultimate amps for versatility IMO. You can dial in any tone you need, so for a band covering many different genre's?? it will more than suffice.

Thx for replies.... right now im thinking about a modded marshall...i loved the 1s ive had. Or maybe a late 70s jmp early 80s jcm and get a fryette power station for my loop and loadbox. Havent ruled out the landry or 20th shiva....trying not to let the impulse sway me :)
