Found this really clean 1960 cab on marketplace. I’ve never seen g12-65’s with 444 55hz cones! The speakers date to 1984. Only bad news is there’s no back plate for it but I pulled one off another cab and it sounds great

Congrats!

There's a rumor that the 55hz G12 65s are not very good sounding, vs the 1777 cone versions. I've had a bunch of both, and the 444 55hz bass cones are just thicker sounding; with the same mids/highs of the 1777s.
Any G12 65 will sound great with an old Marshall. IMO.

G12-65 / John Sykes weapon of choice. Great score.

I got a back panel wired up and they’re certainly not bright but they’re not dark either. I actually like them better than my 1960ax and are just as bright. I think the checkered grill cloth in the ax cuts the highs a bit

Aw man, count me super jealous. I just bought one of these 2-3 weeks ago from GC, and I was super excited to try the 444 cone 65's - I like bassier tones. It showed up and the original speakers were all ripped out, so I had to return it - the price I paid was just not worth it for a quad of 90s T75's, not that those are bad speakers. I've been on the hunt ever since... Enjoy it!

Was that the one in NH or mass?
