MURDERATOR
for guitar....opinions? don't need anything long range...

Line 6 makes some really good ones. Especially for the price

+1 on line 6. Don't get the cheapest unit they have. I have it and have owned the one a step up from that it is hands down more reliable.

I've used the Line 6 G30 for many years at bar gigs and small festivals with no issues. Great unit for the price.

I've had good luck with the Line6 G50 but know several that use the G30 and it seems to work just fine as well.

I was pretty close to getting a Line 6, but then, while waiting for my client from Audio-Technica at NAMM to meet me, one of their guys showed me their latest unit and really sold me on it. A few weeks later Musician's Friend had a good discount code, so I got the Audio-Technica unit. I think it was $300ish after discount and it's been fantastic.

These things don't last forever, even if you don't abuse them. The manufacturers change firmware and frequencies and even run campaigns to get old units out of circulation to free up certain frequencies.

I've got a AKG WMS40 Mini Wireless and it's great. Use it around the house next to loads of electrical equipment and it's quiet and reliable. I couldn't hear sound degradation! My main criticism is the lead on the wireless pack is awful and flimsy, easily replaced though.

I've been using the G50 unit for quite awhile and its been great, but for the last two gigs, the battery life seems to be a lot less...fresh set of Duracells going red on me during a 4 hour gig. It hasn't quit working, but when it gets to one green bar / red I obsess about it. I always have batteries in my pocket if necessary. I think it should last longer...not sure what the deal is, but otherwise its bee a great unit.

Anyone else? I'm looking for something under $300. The Line 6 seems to have durability issues.

It's not cheap but the new(ish) shure pedalboard mounted one kills...

The G10 should be available in a few weeks. It looks cool, not sure how that transmitter would look plugged into a strat jack though.

I like the idea of this one, but as far as I can tell it's charge only (no pedal power). That pretty much make it unusable to me. A shame really.

Not true at all. The G50 and G90 specifically are workhorses (same transmitter on both units, different receiver). I've used these for years and never had an issue. This unit has earned its great reputation.

The G30 has a lot of complaints about the receiver breaking. Specifically the battery door.

Yes on the G30. The G50 is the preferred unit, as others in the thread have also said. I wouldn't use the G30, even if the battery door didn't have problems, because the G50's range, clarity, additional channels, and cable length setting (for high end rolloff) make it MUCH more flexible.

Line 6 is like many companies who sell a cheap version of their good product just so they can claim a lower entry level price. It's kind of a shitty thing to do, but stick with the G50 and you will be happy.

G50 has worked great for me.
Three years of flawless service so far in both rehearsal/gig situations.

I have a rubber band around my G30's door. The G50 is way better quality however the G30 takes a standard guitar cable which I like better, As far as sound goes I can not tell the difference between the G30 and G50 line 6 units. Other then the battery box lid that is junk it still a good unit for the money.

You could plug one of these into the back of your pedal power.
