Well, it looks like my 535Q is on it's last leg. Its cutting in and out, and doesn't come on all the time when I step on it anymore. I took it out of the signal chain the other night, and was amazed to see how much tone it was sucking. So I'm looking for something new. I was thinking about the new Cantrell wah, but I just don't know. I may end up going back to a Bad Horsie, as I liked not having to worry about a switch. Anyway... what wah is doing it for you lately?

Ive lost track of all of the wahs that Ive used owned and sold, vintage, new and otherwise. I think that Ive tried them all and Im not a fan of the morleys or switchless wahs.

I like the Teese RMC3 because its versatility is largely unparralleled, I alos dig the Area 51( as long as its loaded with all of the features and I like the Stock Vox V847. I should also mention that I love the Dunlop Rack wah but thats not practical for most...

The other day, I decided to try the Vox Joe Satriani Big Bad Wah and was BLOWN AWAY!!! Im not a big fan of sig gear in any way, I usually avoid it like the plague but I decided to give this a whirl, mostly because I had forgotten about it. I seriously loved it and am picking one up. It gives you a good classic Vox along with a modern Crybaby if you choose and it also has adjustable boost which can be a nice feature. All things being subjective, this may not be your cup of tea but this wah fanatic was really impressed!!!

odds are it's the switch going in your wah to make it cut in and out and not turn on and off properly.

one thing you can do if you like switchless wahs is to have Dunlop modify it for switchless activation like the 95Q wah they sell. most people don't know this but Dunlop will modify the 535Q, Dime wah and rack wah controller to work without a switch for i think around $50 (don't quote me on that price, e-mail and ask). this will fix your switch problem of course and cost less than a new wah. however it's still buffered bypass (no way around that with switchless) so if you have tone suck now you'll still have it.

No, I figured that its the switch. I am considering replacing the switch, but after hearing the difference in my tone I don't know if I still want to use this pedal. I'm a wah addict, but I'm also very picky about my tone. Without the wah I get the midrange meat back in my tone.

I replaced my Budda with a CAE Wah and couldnt be happier. Very vocal, awesome wah.

am really gassing for a fully loaded loaded area 51 wah.. i use a fulltone clyde standard though and it's ace

I replaced my Clyde Deluxe with a Dunlop Rack Wah version 1. Wasn't even close.

I have the dimebag wah, and it has ALOT of settings...gets pretty much any wah sound I need..

dimebag is just a signature model of the 535Q - one half same as the other.

i have a 535Q - was looking into a dimebag one when i came across this info and saved some cash. the tone suck is a problem indeed, but there are things you can tweak with pedals to change or maneuver your tonal preference around. alot of pedal mods exist out there today.

if i didnt have a 535Q - i would look into the zakk wylde model myself for the sweep frequency it uses (just a tuned crybaby- tweak it to your needs), or a CAE wah.

i dont have any experience with all of the vintage model wah's and such, cant say anything reliable there.

Wahs are very subjective. I got rid of my Cantrell, and got the Morley Tremonti wah....could not be more happy!!! Very musical to me.

I would murder for a RMC Wizard, but I can't justify spending the money on a pedal I don't use in a band.

I really liked my cae mc404 wah. If I were to buy another I'd probably be one of those. Although I do have a probe wah up on the classifieds

I got an RMC3 and like it very much. But having all those possibilities make me adjust it whenever I change amps (I got a few amps and the favorites change from time to time). So it's a bit of a curse. I like the features on the MXR CAE404 a lot, I wonder how it would compare to the RMC.

And yes, all buffered Wahs suck IMO. I'd rather take care of buffering my signal with a dedicated pedal for that purpose.

Get the Voodoo Labs Wahzoo. Not cheap at $279 new and they never go for much less than $200 on the Bay, but a phenomenal wah pedal. Check out a video review.

ive been using my rmc3 for about 8 years now i think. ive bought many other wahs since and none of them have come close to bumping my teese off the board. the tweakability is crazy. Every part of the wah sound can be adjusted. You just have to remember to not get carried away. Ive made that mistake before. I had the thing tweaked soo far away from anything decent sounding I had to call Geoffrey Teese to walk me through getting a good tone again  .
