Motor City Pickups Afwayu

I’ve been rocking a set of Afwayus in a PRS Single Cut and a set of 2nd Degree Black Belts in a LP. Killer pickups and luckily I only had to wait a month. It is disturbing not to have any documentation from him of the purchase.

My favorite pickup ever is the 2nd degree black belt in my Les Paul. Been rocking that for many years now.

I’ve been wanting another for my PRS McCarty but have considered the Afwayu too.. how much hotter is the Afwayu? Is it voiced much differently? I think I heard a good comparison on here but that was so long ago that I forgot

I've had the opposite experience. when i ordered my Afwayu for my Jackson T-1000 it came in 3 weeks & he emailed me 3-4 times before it arrived.

The specs show the Afwayu as being much hotter however it doesn’t really come across as such. It’s got the same growl in the mids and deep punchy bottom end but is focused a little more on the lower mids than the 2DBB. The Afwayu reminds me of the Aldrich but with more clarity.

I had one for a couple years and liked it, but it was always a little thicker sounding than I preferred. Eventually sold it and moved on to the 2nd Degree BB.
