Yeah--didn't want to deal with pedals. When the 100C arrives I'll do clips and see how it stacks up. Of late, I've been noticing that I'm getting REALLY great results with pedals, but... I kind of hate on pedals unless they're in a rack attached to a MIDI-controlled loop. I like front-of-stage simplicity--my ideal is a MIDI controller (All Access) and MAYBE a WAH or Volume pedal.
I loved
my Switchblade head once I found the right speakers for it. Hated on V30's and H30's--Liked G12T-75s and G12S-50s. The 100C comes with Eminence Rockerdriver 60's. We'll have to see how those stack up, but I can easily see changing them. All in all, I find that Hughes & Kettner amps are the most sensitive to what speakers you're using (in addition to extreme response to treble frequencies).
The stuff I'll be playing is kind of all over the place, so the SB 100C seems like the easiest, all-in-one solution. Great cleans, crunch, lead, ultra-gain, built-in reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, tremolo. Included phantom-powered MIDI stage board. I may change the speakers to my liking, and may change the pre tubes to Mullard reissues like I did in my SB head (or maybe change them for Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ like Papa Diezel recommends). Other than that, I think it'll work out well.
The proof will be in the clips... stay tuned.
A HUGE thanks to all who took the time to weigh in and provide experience, opinions, advice, direction, etc. It is GREATLY appreciated and I am proud to be part of such a great community.
Play it cuz you love it!!
