I'm trying to hook up my Axe-Fx to my cab, and to a Carvin DCM150 poweramp. I'm going to run it in Bridge... The poweramp says Bridge, 8 ohms minumum, what does this mean? It needs to be hooked up to an 8 ohm load at least? Or, that it is an 8 ohm value on the poweramp meaning it would need to be hooked up to a 16 ohm load on my cab (if i'm even right about the ohm load!)
Also, i'm a noob with rack gear, how do I hook up the Axe and Carvin poweramp?

Hopefully that helps.

As for the power amp to the cab. Plug the two pronged end into the red pegs I do believe the negative end goes on the right,in the middle there, and the other end into your cab.

Thanks again Putnut
I actually got a Splawn 4x12 tonight, and hung out with a friend, but we didnt get to fire up the Axe because neither of us were quite sure about the Bridge mode cable. But, i'm still a bit confused about that... it says Bridge, 8 ohms minimum, does that mean I need to hook it up to a minimum of 8 ohms? As in, I should hook it up to a 8 ohm or 16 ohm input on my cab?

I think it just means the 8 ohm minimum, that orange cab it was running through was 16ohm, and I ran it through my bogner xtc 4x12 and it sounded the same, as in no power loss...but Im not entirely positive about it.

Well, I tried to hook up the Axe-Fx and Carvin DCM150, but no dice! Both units have power, but there is no sound. I tried hooking it up two different ways, and neither worked.
1. I hooked up the Bridge cable to the two red "doohickeys" lol, and ran that cable into the 16ohm jack on my cab. Then I ran a cable from the Unbalanced left input, to the Bridge input on the poweramp.
2. I just changed from using the Bridge cable, and ran a cable from the left side of the poweramp to the 16ohm jack... just like you had done in the picture... both times I had no sound.
I do not know what i'm doing wrong

Hrmm...so

red doohickeys into the cab, did you try both negative side on the right and the flipping it so its on the left?

Also make sure the Input and Output volumes of the Axe FX on the front are turned up. as well as the power amp volumes. Channel 1 specifically as thats the only one that will be affecting channel volume.

from my original post when I got it hahah

DCM Speaker 1 going into the cab via speaker cable

DCM input 1 going to axe fx output 1 unbalanced via 1/4"

hen I ran a cable from the Unbalanced left input, to the Bridge input on the poweramp.

If im not mistake one of those should be output?

I hope one of these things helps!

Haha, you're right, one of those should have been output! lol
I'll check out those links and report back!

Alright, still nothing! I've tried hooking it up a bunch of different ways! I've got power to both units, but no sound. Also the indicator lights are working ont he Axe, showing that its getting some signal, and the Carvin poweramp was getting signal earlier, but when I hooked it up differently, suddenly its not! So, I guess I dont have the Axe and poweramp hookeed up proper?

I guess not?

So the axe is getting the signals...the chain should be

Guitar>>>>>Axe FX Front Input

DCM Speaker 1>>>>>> via speaker cable

DCM input 1 >>>>>axe fx output 1 unbalanced via 1/4" (regular instrument cable)

Both Axe FX Input and Ouput volumes are up...turn them to noon...same with power amp volumes.

What about the buttons on the back of the power amp? Are any of those pushed in? If youre using the bridged cable I included You want to make sure bridge is pushed in BUT THERE MUST BE NO POWER GOING THROUGH IT! or else it could blow up.

There may be an option in the axe fx to choose an output or an input? Perhaps reset all settings on the axe fx.

Thanks, but I actually gae it another shot after posting and magically, somehow I hooked it up
Anyway, i've been rocking the thing out all night, and I absolutely love it! I can't wait to start making my own patches!! Thanks a lot for everything Putnut

Get prepared to be late for a lot of appointments!!! I spent hours just tweaking haha!
