what can you guys tell me about the McCarty? I know next to nothing about them.what ever you can tell me helps!! thanks in advance.

I have a 2006 McCarty. Great guitar. The neck is very comfy, and I actually think the stock McCarty pickups have a nice growl. They are very solid and consistent guitars.

thanks bro, anyone else?

I had a 2004 irw neck McCarty...

rock solid intonation all the way up the neck, quality fit and finish...

easiest guitar I've owned to play and sing, chord grips just came natural without looking

but I went thru 6 pup swaps[bridge] and still couldn't get it to sound like a les paul

does the hi-gain thing very well, doesn't mush out....but I sold it and don't really miss it

I owned one back around 2000 or so. Bought it used. Change out the pickups for the Dragon I series. Great playing and sounding guitar. I actually got complements for others on how great it sounded. I was checking out a Diezel VH4 from a dealer in MI in 2000/2001, brought my PRS and he fell in love with the tone of it.

Oh and it will never sound like a LP no matter what you do to it!!      I really do not miss it since I have some decent guitars that I love. If I had the extra cash maybe would look into one again or a Custom 22/24.

If you're looking at a McCarty I'd also say check out some DGT's if you can. Similar but with a really big frets, different pickups, coil tap, slightly different neck carve. Just awesome guitars IMHO.

I've got 2 older ones, I love 'em. I play them more than anything else I own. I like the neck pup, but changed out the bridge pup on both of them. They sound fatter and have a bit more depth to the tone than the customs I've had, and stay in tune really well. The "wide/fat" neck is neither wide nor fat   It feels just right to me
Great stuff
