Not the prettiest lead dress I’ve ever seen, but it’s about as original as I’ve seen for some time. Sounds killer (lots of gain) and surprisingly quiet noises. Original Marshall stamped long plate preamp valves in there, not sure what the score is on the power amp valves (TEONEX is something rebranded right? look possibly like old Chinese?). Pretty sure it’s an ‘82 with 1981 G12-65 T3054’s.

Anyway, had to snag it.

Nice ! Leave it stock ! Low gain input with a ksr ceres will do just about anything lol

Sit that fucker on a 2x12 and you’ve got a sick rig as loud as a 4x12 and more 3D sounding.

Awesome. Note the cap on the mid pot. Not an expert on these circuits like many here, but this was done to compensate for the fact that it was built for an open back cab. You can remove a leg of that cap to remove it from the circuit and bring some mids back.

Can’t tell what power tubes it has but if it’s 6550s, that’s a lot mids pulled out between the mid cap and 6550’s. I removed the cap in mine but left the 6550s as they make the amp a touch more “modern” (more low end) sounding to my ear.

Yeah it’ll be staying stock.

Tittays! Congrats. 6550s? My 84 4104 is the best. Hope this one is too.

EL34’s. I’m in the UK so it’s rare for them to be anything else. Think I prefer EL34’s in a Marshall but maybe it’s just because that’s what i’m used to

I actually happen to have a matching 2x12 with the same speakers and same dimensions. but my plan is to chuck all of the speakers in a 4x12 for a bit

oh good spot on the cap on the mid pot. Curious to hear that, will likely get removed as I don’t see myself using it as a combo. Be fun to hear for a while though. EL34’s in this atm

First clip with it, came up with this idea the other day (with the Dual Rectifier in mind) and reamped with this Marshall while I was at it. Boosted with a Rocktron Austin Gold just to tidy the low end and give a small push. I think I prefer the Dual Rectifier for this song, but theres a cool midrange here

Sounds rockin man, great stuff ?

I had one of these for a good number of years as it was my first real tube amp that I bought as a teenager growing up during those years. Loved it!

Nicely done!

Have you tried it as a 3x12?

3x12? As in with one speaker not loaded or? The combo is 2xG12-65’s, the extension cab is also 2 speakers. The 2045 actually doesn’t sound a million miles off a 4x12 to me but I still always gravitate towards a bigger cab when possible.

Oh snap I totally missed that it’s a 2x12. Even better! Marshall half-back action! Jealous!

Ha the photo is a bit deceptive but it weighs a ton and is bigger than it looks

I had a 50 watt 1-12 combo in the 90’s. Ran it with a jubillee small 2-12. It was ok, ended up swapping it for a Crate GXT 50 watt 1-12. That was a nice amp.

Surprised those AC heater wires aren’t twisted, did you say the amps noise floor is pretty low?

This " mod" is a must in my opinion or it can sound dull. Changed my combo for the better.
