I have the same cab. It's not lacking lows at all.

right side pair is wired wrong. need to make it the same as the left side.

the positive and negative terminals on the the right side pair are on the same sides as the left side pair because the speakers were flipped to be in an x pattern. would the wiring still need to be corrected?

also, the cab is 8-ohms parallel. would it matter which of the two 8-ohm amp outputs i connect to which of the two cab inputs? (i literally have very little technological knowledge  ).

in that enlarged photo; bottom speaker - left side is positive. top speaker - right side is positive.
Right, and you've got what appears to be the silver/ground wire run to the + terminal, and the gold wire running to the -/neg terminal. Swap them, because that makes them out of phase, and lacking bass.

FYI: I just fixed a client's cab yesterday (Marshall) that had this same problem. Swapped two wires, wham, instant bass and stronger mid output.

Now just flip those two wires, would you please already?

lol thanks man. would i need to do this to the right side pair too?

the old upside down speaker. throws em every time.............

must be having some labor issues at avatar to wire the cab wrong.

No. Then you'll be out of phase again. Just fix the one side.

awesome. thank you so much everyone! i'll tackle this later today.

Eh, it happens even to us old timers. I did it just two weeks back on a 2x12 because I was leaning over the front of the cab looking at it upside down. Played two chords and went "Damnit!", reversed the two offending wires, and woohoo, it's fixed.

It's a simple mistake from going to fast, I can understand why it happened at Avatar, too.

And that's why I use red/black wire, you can easily see if you've screwed the pooch on the wiring. LOL

thats where Quality Control is crucial to a company's reputation, a qualified person, actually listening to the product before its boxed up and shipped out the door. Its possible to have a shorted winding, incorrect part, phase issue as in this case and when a person is spending this kind of cash, and posts on a forum such as this, one that people can search for years to come, the first sentense of my post certainly comes into effect.

the operation was a success! thank god for push-on connections - no soldering required lol (though i can imagine i'll have to check these regularly to make sure they don't vibrate themselves right off the terminals).

thanks again to all who helped!

You can always take a wire stripper and crimp the connectors while on the terminals (be careful you don't tweak the terminals, of course!).

I usually crimp the connectors first, then hold the speaker fiber board firmly with one hand, then slide the connectors on so they have a tight fit when done.

Either way works. Glad to hear you got your wiring sorted and the bigger response back.

I gently crimp the back portion of the female connector before I slide it over the male end. the open end still still slides on, takes a bit more to slide it on but once its on, it won't vibrate loose.

Glad to see your problem was resolved, I had no idea how to help. I learned something.
