Hey guys, I wanted to announce a killer new project I’m working on. I’ve recently teamed up with Artist Series Guitar and we’re launching a new 2 channel high gain amp. We’ll be rolling it out at Winter NAMM, and check this out: the amp will be priced at $999!

The amp will run 5 12AX7’s in the preamp and a quad of 6L6GC’s in the power amp for 100 watts. 2 channels geared to offer brutal high gain as well as gorgeous clean tones (yes, a GOOD clean channel!), a tube buffered effects loop, multi-tap output, and all around badass-ness.

So the golden question is probably, “what will it sound like?” The high gain channel is based around the channel 2 lead mode on the CEC Brigand, but modified for more available gain. It will be RUTHLESS. The clean channel is designed to sound similar to a CEC Suckerpunch15 dialed back clean.

I am really stoked about what’s in store. We’ve got some really cool stuff in the works in the way of working with some awesome bands on ASG’s current roster. Prototyping is beginning now, and we’ll be chronicling the development of this project on the brand new Facebook page we just put up yesterday. Head over and like it if you’re interested in following along!

Cool! Sounds like a great amp at a very reasonable price point! Good job, Craig!

Thanks Rob! This amp is going to absolutely SLAY for the price. :D

Sounds like a cool concept, keep us posted! Pics along the way would be cool!

Thanks, guys. Getting some stuff going in CAD over the next week for the machined parts. The first proto will have a hand wired circuit and when the build starts, things will get pic heavy. :D

If you really want to blow people's mind try and incorporate MIDI switching into it :)

It'd be nice, but we couldn't meet the price point if we did.

What country is it going to be manufactured in?

USA. :)

And to boot, the cab, chassis, transformers, circuit boards, and several discrete components will be US made too!

If this is true, and the quality and sound follow, you will have one very heavy hitter that should be very successful!!

Can't wait to see pics of the prototype. Sounds like a killer idea.

This sounds great!!! Can you specify the differences between this and the Brigand Ch. 2???

Or is it the same exact thing with more gain options?

Tight bass response is your ticket here. IMO, what sets all high gainers apart is the bass response.

It is a great idea and one that is necessary in the market, IMO. Good luck with it! Looking forward to hearing it.

Thanks, guys!

It is based around Brigand's channel 2 lead mode. However, it is running 12AX7's instead of 5751's, there is an extra gain stage, there is no body control, there is no mid sweep control, and the voicing is being tweaked to accommodate the added gain and maintain tightness.

Agreed, the bass response is critical. From a technical perspective, I see the proportion of even and odd order harmonic content as a big factor too though. But yeah, the bass response will be the main thing I spend time dialing in when the first prototype is built.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting it out there!

I don't know how you're doing it, but rock on!
