I had a TungSol in V1 - was too much hum and was harsh
other than that the one if the Input position is working fine...lots of variables to get the "right" tone...or lack of tone depending on what you think

Very true. :)

BTW, I really like the tone you've got.
NICE.

I have used any of these boosts with good results IMHO...boost always in front. Some folks do the eq thing in loop, I've not tried an eq

Maxon OD808: level at 5:00 gain at 8:00
Mesa Flux Drive: level at noon, gain around 7:00, bass at 1:00, treble at 10:00
Suhr Koko: levels around noon for clean and mid boost

I have been wanting a suhr koko reloaded, but after hearing your clip with the Flux im wanting to grab one of those...

Do you like the flux more than the koko ??

for boosting the Mesa Trec it's my #1 boost, then the Maxon then the Koko.

I had the Koko when I had a CAA PT100 and a Suhr Badger 30 - the Koko was perfect for those amps. The Flux is great with the Mesa.

SOUNDS AMAZING !!!

I'll take a boosted rectifier over 95% of the over priced
fan-boi/modded stuff people max out their credit cards over on this
board.
I couldnt agree more!!
My Recto is modded and I run a clean boost in front for metal but its just so versatile and KILLER sounding. Hard to play anything else. And its about 1/3 of what I paid for some amps I had in the past. :D
Your clip sounds great man. And I know what you mean about it being CRUSHING in the room. Videos just cant capture that. ;)

Sounds great! Maybe a little bright for my personal taste, but backing off the treble and upping the mids a bit would certainly take care of that. I can hear how aggressive and snarly the tone is. Ripping sound! :)

I've never really messed with preamp tubes in the past. I typically just stuck with Ruby AC5s HG/HG+. But I recently started experimenting with some different tubes and I was surprised how much a difference it actually made. For power tubes I think I've settled on the KT77 for now. Tighter than an EL34, extended highs (but more clarity). A little grainy at low volumes. But once you start to bring the master up on your amp they round out nicely. For preamps, I tried the JJ ECC83 in a few different positions, but don't really like it. Fizzy and mushy. Just threw a Tung Sol reissue into V1 and a JJ ECC803S into V2. Like it a lot. The Tung Sol is noisy as hell though. Lots of background noise, hum, and popping/ticking. I have a new one on the way. Hopefully it's better.

I also ordered a NOS RCA 12AX7A. I've heard it's a good too and the price wasn't too bad from TC.

Not really sure how any of those tubes would respond in a Recto though. I had a Dual Rec years ago. But never really jived with it. Difficult to dial in.

Sounds fantastic.

I've had good luck with a Tung Sol 12AX7 in V1 in my Roadster. Shrug.

this clip disemboweled my cat. Awesome….I think…..

pretty low bedroom vol clip - if your computer has a sub, enjoy

And the Lord said 'let there be brootz.' And there was. And it was good.

For reals. Sounds glorious. Best rectifier clip I've heard.

thanks everyone - glad you're digging the "tone"
chugga chugga thump reeeaaaarrrooowwwaaaahhhhhhhh!!

I'm going to confidently say that was the best Recto clip I have ever heard. Damn that sounded good.

This makes me want a recto again.

I think every discriminating metal/hardcore/rock person should have one !

I have a 2 channel triple and I am in the process of buying a pre 2010 3 channel triple again.

My favorite Recto is the Multi-Watt, though I haven't played the Racto which i hear are great.

i wish i could trade one of my Slash Jubilees for a Recto or even a Marshall JVM210H
