After feedback from my questions about a DSL in this thread: Is having a DSL redundant if....

It seems the DSL would be pretty redundant with the Friedman Plexi and the JCM 800 So I got this one instead.

I've never played a Soldano, but one of my friends said in his own words, "It's a one trick pony, but it's the best one trick I've ever heard." He sold all his other amps and he loves it.

I think it's a lot more versatile than what he's letting on. Look at all the players who have used it, from Mark Knopfler to Gary Moore, to Warren Haynes. Then on the harder end of the spectrum like EVH, Lynch and the hard rock guys from the 80s. I was getting some great tones with just the K-Line strat and the crunch channel.

So far. Got it this evening, and it had to spend some time plugged in, warming up from the sub-freezing temps outside. Played it for about an hour and sounds great so far. I really like the crunch channel.
Is it true that you can't turn the gain up past 6 and still sound good? I've heard that before.

With the majority of rock amps, and soldanos for sure, i never liked the gain over 11 oclock (4). That eas where you had the most clarity. If you needed more, you boosted. But that was at volume.

If you play quiet, yiu could turn it up higher because power section isn't providing the tone

You did well ! Congrats ! Try the lead channel with gain at 5/6. It does work well with bridge bucker... If you have separate volume for bridge/ neck, it cleans up super nice with the neck lowered volume. Just like a channel switcher with the PU selector !

HNAD! From the looks of it, it's a newer model with depth. That's the only way to go IMO. The older models are a little more raw sounding but once I played one with Haynes mod (depth), I liked it a lot more.

I'm sure it is. I guess my friend was saying that it wasn't an amp to try to make it into a swiss army knife kind of thing. I've never played one, so for all I know, I might really love it. Hard to find them around here.

Very Nice.....You won't regret getting the 100 watter! I would say the SLO is different yet in the similar vein of what you already have but still different.

HNAD!:2thumbsup:

Haynes mod is bright cap bypass mod, not depth mod.
