I really spend time with setting and mic placement for once and captured a pretty good tone from the VH4. No blending B.S. Not sure why I did a NAD clip and blended it with something else. DUMB. This is all VH4.

Sound better than the other 'un? Does this represent the VH4 well?

BTW, this is just a tone test. No song, just some chugging and chords.

I think it sounds great. I do think the combo in your last post still sounded better (youd have to throw 2 diezel tracks in to fairly compare) but I wonder what would sound best in a mix?

I bet this diezel clip would sound awesome with some drums n bass.

I also would agree passives!! But I'm not a diezel guy.

I actually was playing thru it with the Les Paul with BKPs but surprisingly the ESP just sounded a little "meaner" tonight. Really not a drastic difference. The attack with the passives was just slightly "rounder".

Nice man......glad to see you got your VH4 back.

My next amp for sure. Biggest regret gear sale I had ever when I sold my VH4S ....

Do it!

Definitely sounds more true to the VH4 in this clip. Sounds like your gain is up pretty high for the juice factor. The VH4 is a hair on the dry side until you crack noon.

You called it! The gain is literally at 12:15, lol. This head is an '08 model. The one I had previously was an '07 and I don't remember it having this much gain on tap...

The VH4 does not mix well with active pickups....Over-compressed, boxy sounding mutes and brittle top end....This has been my experience. Unlike many, I actually like EMGs with certain amps and certain applications...But the VH4 is not one of them.
