Picked up some bass gear over the last week or so. I ordered a Darkglass Microtubes 900V2 bass head. This thing is cool, has built in IRs and you can load your own, very handy... and 900 watts

And just the other day I picked up a 1973 Gibson SB-450! This thing feels awesome. Something about the woods they used back then feel and resonate really nice. Stoked to have this! I recorded a clip just last night with this bass and the new head, will post soon.

Funny you posted this. I was checking out the Darkglass Microtubes 900 the other day. Clip sounds really good from the other thread. Good vocals and bass. Really good job there.

Man that Darkglass stuff is awesome. Small, great tone and yet extremely loud. If I played bass often enough to warrant it I would definitely get one.

That bass is freaking sick! Is it solid maple or is it just the color it's painted? I don't think I've ever seen an SG bass that looks like that. Very cool, congrats sir!

That is a killer looking bass man! I love getting an older piece of gear and then finding out it plays awesome too. I recently got an older Eric Clapton signature Strat and it is one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned. Just has that "thing". Enjoy!!

Thanks man! Yeah V2 of that Microtubes 900 literally just came out. Wasn't too much out there on the amp other than some jazz guy ripping on a 6 string bass. It was the built in IRs that sucked me in. Was a no brainer for home recording... the 900 watts is just a perk ;)

Yeah I just like the feel of older gear a bit more lately. Some of the newer stuff that comes out has so much clear coating it it feels almost like plastic to me. Just not into that.

That is some sweet bass gear, I'm sure you'll put it to good use!

Darkglass is nice stuff. I was tempted to get one of these when I was playing bass in a local band. I ended up quitting the band and selling my bass rig. I think Im going to grab neural's darkglass plugin. I would love to have one of these heads though. Congrats!

And all this time we thought you were a musician.

I think the IR loading and EQ are excellent additions to these amps. I have a V1, is there a big enough reason to upgrade?

Thanks dude! So I wasn't sure about what the bass was at first but finally found something on it that says it has an alder body, maple neck and rosewood fret board. I guess it's hard to tell from the pic but it's not painted, it's natural wood sort of like a butterscotch tele.

I hear good things about their plugin. I never tried it fearing it would be one more plugin I buy and rarely use. Otherwise loving this amp.. so are my neighbors

Thats hard. I think if you would use the IR's for direct to the board or straight into an interface for direct recording then yeah its super cool for that. The headphones phones out sounds really good too and nice to have.
