And yet this place is full of guys who won't listen to much past 1989 and don't like it when a band from their favorite era puts out an album that doesn't sound like what they sounded like back then.

Good bands have signature sound and I don't mind that that signature comes through in all their stuff. If I want variety I just listen to a broad range of bands and styles instead of expecting bands to change their style.
