New ebay rules aka teh buttrape

I have a suggestion which I'm very seriously considering.
Create auction pages on ebay letting them know
that us sellers are not going to play their game,
and boycott these assholes.
A good auction title would be like:
EBAY, FUCK YOU AND YOUR NEW SELLER RULES. GOODBYE

that last bit is fucked
I may not be a big fan of some sellers on ebay, but I also owned retail shops in the past, and waiting for your money is a royal PITA. I never said sellers should not be able to leave negative feedback, But I do think that these power seller shops are killing it and making the total overall experience a negative one. (not all of them, there is one I have done some business with, ships right away, but never gives you a tracking number and takes a month to leave any feedback at all, and then only after prompting, the standard excuse, We're busy...still, I will do business again cause its quick and reliable.)

Man, I've been real lucky over the years. My feedback is 108 and I've only had one dead bidder who was an aussie. No more outside US sales or bidders ever again. Now I feel even more vulnerable as a seller on Ebay with these new policies.

If you go over to Ebays site on the main page top right click on "community" then "workshops/discussion forums" then over to the left under Community Help Boards click on "policies/user agreements. Sellers over there are just completely irate as hell over the new rule changes. Long time sellers threatening to throw in the towel over getting raped by higher FV fees and this rediculous feedback exchange policy.

I'm a Power seller, and I'm not one of those huge stores on ebay.
The whole thing has turned to shit no matter how you look at it.
Ebay is only good for buyer at this point. That's pretty sad,
but just wait until sellers start pulling out.
Expecially ones that didn't know there were any policy changes.
Gonna be some really pissed off people there.

The lady at Paypal reprimanded me for shipping the amp so quickly and not waiting at least a week upon receiving payment..basically told me I'm screwed. The buyer did fix everything but it was very clear to me how easy the potential for scam is...not to mention how slowly they acted on unfreezing my account.

WTF, the whole point of paypal is so that you can ship the item much sooner than if the buyers use a money order. Waiting till it clears (3-4 days to get into the bank account) pretty much negates the advantage of Paypal. :bleh:

And there is no way I am accepting paypal again if I have to wait to receive feedback to get paid....

Safe Payments

To help ensure more buyers are protected, in some cases we'll require sellers to offer either PayPal or a merchant credit card to customers. PayPal buyer protection covers most qualified transactions up to $2000.00 USD.

Sellers will only be required to provide this safe payment option to customers in certain situations:

* For listings in riskier categories, like computers and cell phones
* If the seller has 5% or more dissatisfied customers
* If the seller has less than 100 Feedback

In a small number of cases (fewer than 5% of all payments on eBay), PayPal will hold payment funds until either the buyer has left positive Feedback or 21 days have passed without a claim.

Enjoy!

That is ridiculous.

Dude - read my post above. I would NEVER ship anything until the PayPal payment clears to my bank account. Above I described a common PayPal scam that shows why...

I agree, and I wouldn't do it again. Yet I do put faith in people with references and great feedback.

This is my attitude now anyways.

I worked fucking hard making sure I was both a reputable eBay Seller and a courteous buyer....wtf is with this "can't neg a buyer..."

There's people who won't communicate, scam artists....fortunately have only had it once when selling my 6100LM..claimed it was broken and got someone to write up a repair bill..we never did come to terms on it (he wanted $400 on an $850 item)..I offered up to $250....since I damn well knew it was 100% when it left me..also arrived intact according to him....and I figure the fact he never left me a negative feedback on it means I called it correctly as a scam.

This is typical though...and now you can't neg a buyer who just wants to scam you for a cheaper item

I read that, and again waiting till the money clears pretty much negates the advantage of using paypal.

Ground shipping is usually slow enough were I haven't run into this issue, as by the time the person gets the item the money has cleared into my account. I think I may be accepting money order only from now on. Although my bank takes 10 business days to clear an out of country money order.

Well isn't it true that even though after you have received your money from a buyer and you have already transferred that money to your bank account from your Paypal account that Paypal can snatch it right back out of your bank account if a problem arises? If I'm not mistaken I think I read where that happened to someone once. It wouldn't suprise me at all. Because I know if I buy something off of Ebay using Paypal and there isn't enough money in my Paypal account then they automatically pull the difference out of my bank account.

I just recently had issues with paypal, in the end they got a nice go fuck yourself letter from me. Fuck paypal and ebay.

Same here. I shipped some pickups via USPS (because the buyer requested it specifically). Well, USPS has no tracking on the method he requested, so a couple weeks later the buyer files a claim against me on paypal saying he never got the pickups. And since there was no tracking info available, paypal took the money out of my account and gave it back to the buyer, and I never got the pickups back. As far as I know, the buyer could have gotten them and just claimed he didn't, knowing there was no way I could find out either way.

Scam.
