I didn't like the stealth amp. I had one and couldn't dial out some of the mid-range. With EL34's...it will have even more. No thanks.

I still like the original 5150 though.

"8" 12AX7"s ...?

Kinda looks like the same old thing.

The 100 watt head and the Stealth also have 8 12AX7s

CP Pre's are $17 and up.

$160 bucks for preamp tubes, no thanks.

Ed's Grail Marshall did the job with 3.

Too bad Marshall missed the boat doing an EVH Marshall re-issue.

Can't help think they would have screwed it up anyway.

lol. Ed used more than just that amp....

I dig the stealth and dig el34's, but the description of “greater sag & saturation...more sustain...” makes it sound like it would be too much. I can’t image more saturation than what the stealth already has

My 5150 II is sick w/25w creambacks

yeah. i have had them all numerous times. still have my 5152.

Yeah me too, had them all but found I like the peavey 5152 most. Not that I wouldnt give this version a spin ...Every 5150 version has sounded good to my ears so far, just a different flavor of that sound.

yah ... but there were no mods according to Jose' ...

Are we being Historically accurate or just selling Made in Mexico amps ?

Ed also told us that he ran his Variac the opposite way. So all these already struggling musicians blew up their Marshalls.

EVH has always told the truth ya know.

Right.

There are 2 variacs on top of the right hand stack set to 90 volts no doubt.

Ed is a cleaver man hasn't said much for the record in 40 years.

Supposdly he had a UK 230V Marshall that he used the variac on for US 115VAC and the rest is history.

I did read the 1978 Guitar Player interview where he boasted about melting tubes and boosting line voltage making amps die.

Was prolly the Whiskey & Peruvian flake talking.

I've always found those two photos interesting. Notice the two 50 watt amps... and the modified plugs. Some are attached, some are bulgin and some are IEC.

I really like the 6534 amp emulator on my Peavey Vypyr, moreso than the Peavey 6505 emulator (which was my next tube amp purchase).

I may just get the EVH EL34 based amp instead.

That's mix between the USA & EU/UK models of the Marshall JMPs. The non-Master Volume JMPs from the EU/UK pre-1975 had bulgin ports, while the later models had the IECs. All USA built JMPs (Master Volume & non-Master Volume) had the connected power cable and by default came with 6550 power tubes installed instead of EL34s.

Both my JMP 2203 & 2204s were built in the UK and include the IEC port.

I never knew that about the USA JMP amps. My 67 plexi has the bulgin plug. I've never owned a JMP with an IEC plug and I've owned a lot of them.

The problem is that EVH used 6CA7's in his Super Lead..

Yeah the top small box 50 is 6550s a usa model.

The bottom one with Laydown tyranny looks uk. It has the funky mains selector . And Looks like the other filter cap is underneath.

The other caps look like the 32/32 design, and been replaced.

no idea what it will sound like but I think it looks cool as hell

Im just surprised they went for more compression and saturation, maybe thats just marketing b.s. I was hoping they would have said something like " more open with better clarity "
