I sent an email about the .75mm Classic Mini. I've been playing .60mm Dunlop Tortexes for a while now and I'm looking forward to trying out this new acrylic pick.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I've never liked thick picks

I had been using the .73's (or something like that) Ultex standard picks for electric and then .60's for acoustic for the past few years. I then moved to the Black Ice .80's for electric and .50's for acoustic. I was surprised but I really liked the smaller size. Slightly bigger than a Jazz III but smaller than a standard size.

I have been using Ultex Jazz III's for the past few months think I like it better than the Black Ice now. Odd because I never liked the Jazz III's before. The Gravity Classic Mini feels better in my hand than the Jazz III's and has a nice tacky quality to it so that it doesn't move around. I have only used it for 5 minutes but we shall see I guess.

I have never really liked picks that have no give but for some reason they have started to grow on me over the past year or so.

I thought about requesting the 1.5mm just to try something different, but I figured I better take baby steps

I admit it's been a while since I've used a thick pick, but I just always liked the snap of a thinner pick when digging in on chords on both electric and acoustic. I also like that bit of give you get, although I must say that I've recently been thinking about moving up to a pick that is just a hair thicker. Maybe this Gravity .75mm will be right up my alley. I'm interested to see if I like the smaller size. Looking forward to trying it out

Thanks for the heads up. Chris seems like a cool guy. Pretty cool of him to do this, so make sure you place an order if you like it. I have a Classic .75mm on the way to try. My bro has some VPicks and I don't like them, but they are all super thick gauges and I normally use .60 or .75, so I may like the Gravity pick more.

I've been using my Classic Standard .75mm for a few days now and it's pretty nice actually. I went into it pretty skeptically, but it has proven me wrong in some aspects. It's a bit smaller than my Tortex picks (not quite as small as a Jazz III), but I guess if I had ordered the XL size it would have been the same. Had I known I would have, it was my mistake. The pick feel is good, but sometimes it wants to torque. I could scratch it up a bit, but I would feel bad because it's a $4 pick. The tone is great though, very smooth and not too plastic-y like you get with a lot of other non-tortex picks. The thickness is probably my greatest complaint. .75mm with this material is just a tad too thin for what I like, but 1.5mm would be overkill. If they offered a 1mm of this material I would buy a truckload.

My buddy Chris got a free one and the pick makes individual notes and chords thicker and clearer. The pick attack isn't as washy as with the Dunlop either. I was a .73 tortex user for my entire life, but I think I may be sticking with Gravity. These are coming in the mail in the coming days, and then I'll know for sure. I may even do A/B tests and post 'em

Yeah I agree with Lolzgreg,... I brought a couple gravity picks over and we both liked them... We placed an order for a few more..I think I would like the classic XL in .75 best ,just gonna hve to wait and see

but if i could get one of these acrylic pics with a super sharp tip, i'd try it. but damn are they spendy.

I got mine in the mail today. I haven't had the chance to use them much, but I played for 10 mins or so and I really liked them. Really nice attack to them and they don't "grip" the string as much as V-Picks. I'm definitely going to order a few.

Got my free Classic Mini the other day. Killer pick!!! I didn't think I would like it much more than my red Jazz IIIs, but for note clarity and attack it's the best I've played. Looks cool too.

As stated above, there's not as much grab on the strings as a Jazz III or standard pick, but there's so much control. I will be ordering more for sure.

A bit of follow up. I've now played the Classic standard for 3 weeks. I put this thing through complete hell but I wanted to show some results.

I have a seriously heavy right hand and at the price I don't know if I can justify it. I maybe play for an hour a day so I don't know if I will stick with these or not. All of this said it is a very comfortable pick and has now shifted my sights to more acrylic options.

I purchased some V Picks today, one of comparable size, and intend to run it through the same drill. Will post results.

I got mine about a week or so ago and have been using it consistently just to give it a fair chance. For me personally, I'll stick to my jazzIIIs. The gravity pick has a lot of drag to it IMO and slowed me down considerably and I don't have much speed or accuracy to lose Almost like it sticks to the strings. Just not my taste, I think it was cool of him to give some out though

Mine cracked too. Only much worse than that. Glad I didn't go through with the order yet. I only got to use it a few times. It was a nice pick while it lasted though

The www.v-picks.com has a sh!tload of differents picks in various thicknesses and sizes. Also in reference to pick "chirp", picks that are capable of producing a wider sound spectrum (including harmonics) tend to have more impact with the string (attack) and will tend to exhibit a "chirp" that can be adjusted with the way the pick is held and the angle with which it meets the strings. Some v-picks do this more than others as would different models of Gravity picks. Those of us who use distortion, overdrive our amp's front end, and generally dig the "big noise" probably don't care about chirp anyway. Less "chirp" probably means less of the tone we are all looking for. (ymmv)

I received my Gravity Picks last week (1.5 Classic and Razer) and used them for rehearsal on Friday. Although I like pointed picks (I practice with a 1.0 Pickboy Meta Carbonate) the Razer was a bit too pointy for my tastes so I used the Classic for about 2/3 of the night. I liked them, the tone and attack was good, and they were easy to grip even when the sweat started (it was 90+ degrees and humid). 1.5 was a little thick but not bad...a 1.0 would be ideal but they don't make it. I haven't done a tone/attack comparison yet but will do so soon. If these pics are of interest to you, I would say check them out...they're pretty cool.

I got my two picks in the mail. I have to say that I'm fascinated. The Razer pick really gives clear, full tones. I'm practicing on my main practice acoustic. I'd say the Razer grabs the strings a lot harder. Excellent for slow playing. Let's you put really clear, full bell-like tones on all of your pickwork. The Classic was a bit more normal in feel, but I think the string resonation was still very full from the stiffer material (did we say acrylic?) The Classic played faster and didn't have quite the attack definition (for obvious reasons).

All in all, I would say these are excellent picks. It looks like it will be worth picking up a few, and be careful not to loose them. I still want to put them through the durability test. They are very stiff. Mine, with my playing, do not feel like they would split. I have to say that they are very stiff, which is what makes them better picks (at least on the acoustic).

Oh yeah, he gave me purple picks, which is my favorite color.

So the V Pick cracked after a week. In summary I preferred the Gravity over the V Pick at .75mm. I have since moved up to a 2.75mm and will repeat the process. Moving up this much in thickness has been daunting but I honestly have more control. There is a bit of a learning curve in terms of the quackiness the larger pick produces. It is significantly noisier than the .75 but after about an hour with it I was comfortable. Glad I bumped into this thread. It started a great pick journey.

I have been playing a Gravity Classic Mini for a few weeks now and I like it well enough. I thought it might get slippery but it actually grips really well even when sweating.

I recently got a gravity pick classic and I agree it does seem to grab the strings a bit more
on the other hand the gravity pick is a little brighter and clearer sounding than the jazz IIIs I currently use and have used for several years, I don't see myself changing anytime soon.
