Don't you just hate it when the trackinginfo tells you that the gear you have ordered has arrived while you're out of town, and especially when you'll be out of town for almost a week after it has arrived? Oh well.

What could it be?

After what seemed like an eternity of unpacking...

But then! A first hint.

Still a ton of unpacking to do, so let's fast forward a few steps.

It's a JC120! Or at least parts of it.

Here's the deal: I've wanted a JC120 for as long as I can remember, but lately I've gravitated more and more towards the JC120H as it seems to be a more convenient option. However; finding a JC120H that I can get shipped to Norway is a tall order, so when I found a guy selling a JC120 without speakers I decided to buy it and build a headshell for it when I find the time for it(probably in a few weeks).

But I do have a few questions regarding how I'm to wire the outputs on it... My original plan was to use it with my Marshall 1960 cabinet together with my dirt-amp, but I can't get my head around it. I mean... Originally it had two speakers, one dry and one wet, but... I'm only interested in the wet-part for now. However; would it be possible to wire it to a switch so that I can have either dry, wet or both on one output? I know it's possible switch-wise, but I'm wondering if it would hurt the amp? I mean... You're not supposed to switch on tubeamps without having cabinets plugged in, but that's due to the output-tranformers, right? So it shouldn't really matter with a solidstate?

it does matter, BUT, you can get away with more...like switching over jacks and whatnot while its on, or switching cabs.

but, whats the point, unless you have to crawl back behind your gear or are too lazy, just turn it off....why risk it. not trying to be smarty, just saying, ask youself that.

on the other hand, for the first 3 years i owned my mosvalve 982, i NEVER turned it off when i was switching cabs to try out different stuff, sometimes for 15 minutes digging around to find another speaker cord.

another instance, years later, at a gig, i had a speaker cable wired to the other side of the stage....not even plugged in. the never thought to tell me there wasn't sound coming out of that cab ALL NIGHT!!!

not even a hiccup. the thing is still running strong today too.

Yeah, it seems that the general consensus is that it doesn't hurt the amp if I wire both sets of speakerwires so that I have two inputs, and only use one of them...

But someone gotta have a good idea as to how I'll have to wire it to get both outputs into one speaker?
