New Headshell Day

FINALLY got a new headshell built right here in Cowtown, OH. Paul Kress did a killer job for a killer price.

So, these oversized transformers now have a real solid shell to call home. I have metal grills on order from http://www.reliablehardware.com. Just about everything under the sun a body could want/need for dressing speaker cabs and headshells. They even cut the metal mesh grill to size so all I'll have to do is screw it on. In the end, this thing will end up looking like a SLO100. How fitting, eh? It doesn't sound like a SLO since I had it modded, but it's now light years beyond the condition I received it in. The Ruby KT88-STR's have this thing sounding real pissed off. Preamp tubes are two JJ, a Ruby & a Mullard.

I received my metal mesh grills from Reliable Hardware yesterday. Today I ordered some Soldano-like knobs from C3amps.com to finish off the rebirth. Can you believe they are $4.25 / pop?  Seems a bit extreme.

Anyway, here's update #2.

I'm thinking about having a nameplate made for it. Any suggestions where I might have a one-off created with out getting murdered on price?

Knobs aren't so expensive, until you realize you need like 10 of them...

So much money into an amp, and still low resale value  I hope you keep it for a long time and rock it out

Definitely a labor of love at this point. Looks good though man. Let me know what you find out about the nameplate.

No kidding on the knobs man! And yep, I would never get the money invested into this amp back out of it. I really am digging it so it's not going anywere. When I die, I'm going to have this thing attached to my leg and be buried at sea! :D

That looks killer man! Nice call on the big glass in there too.

Forgive me, but is that an SLO clone or something else altogether?

Thanks!

It was a Titan Custom 200. I say "was" because I had a ton of work done to get it to a playable state. It was a jacked up p.o.s. when I got it.

Titan amps are essentially SLO clones. The board in mine states exactly that, "slo clone". After the mods I had done, it isn't much of a clone at this point.

They're the same boards they sell on eBay...
