I just got the TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6. It's only 2 channels, but IMHO opinion is alot of bang for the buck. It's onlsale right now at sweetwater for $199

Any more opinions on these?

I'm trying to decide on one and order today! :D

i was going to advise you to get the one that gives you the most bang for the buck. i take it you're going with mixcraft? after looking at the tutorials it seems like mixcraft also gives you alot of bang for the buck. good choices. enjoy!

thanks for the update. there's an awful lot of programs available. finding the right pieces can be a bit problematic for someone like me.. who doesn't have a lot of computer knowledge. let me know how it works out for you.
right now i've just got a cheapo behringer two in two out converter. it really slows the process down for me because i'd like to play with some sort of backing tracks while i'm laying down a rhythm track first. it's a real multi step process because i've got to put down a drum track.. then a bass track.. then a rhythm track.. etc. by the time i've done the programming for drums.. etc.. i've either lost the idea.. or it morphed into something else.

I downloaded and installed every good DAW I could find. No two ways about it, none are more n00b friendly and easy to use than Mixcraft. My next choice up from Mixcraft as for power and still pretty n00b friendly and easy to use is Adobe Audition. However, in the end, I found a lot of good information, demos and tutorials for Cubase 5, and I was more impressed with it than any other DAW out there, so that's what I bought. My recording interface won't be here until the end of next week, so it may be at least a week or two before I can really get into it, but I'll let you know how it all works out.

very cool. hope that it works well for you. after going through the tutorials i may go with mixcraft myself. i like the price point and what i don't spend on a recording program i can put into a better interface. i also like the simplicity of use. the fewer steps i have to take the better.. for me anyway.
let me know how the cubase works out for you. it seems like a good program.
