That's the stupid thing about the internet arguments - you can find something to support any proposition... Anyone with any commonsense knows that early American demographics were more homogenous than now and were heavily skewed to Christianity as a people. The 13 colonies were British colonies so it's obvious that's the case. Most of the immigration to the US was from Britain and/or Europe back then... Want to take a guess what religion was predominant there as well?

Yes, for the all the bluster about the righteous Union many of the people footing the bill for slaves were northerners. He had investors. I have old slave records from his plantation showing the value of particular slaves and what their fields of expertise were. I don't particularly know what makes scottish rite different, I only know he was a member. These weren't people from the lower classes. He was a direct descendant of Stuart royalty. His plantation big house exceeded the white house in lucury and furnishings today. He had a huge collection of audobon related stuff. The house was hit by lightning and burned down in the late 1800's and only about half of it remains a ruin. The white family side still owns the property. It's all overgrown and functions as a hunting lease.

Yeah it's sports and outdoors which is really cool but the state is run by a bunch of screw loose blue haired libs so it's essentially off my "interesting" list. It reminds me of MN, which is also a dumpy high tax high regulation lib state like Maine full of socialist retards but has good outdoor opportunities. Except MN is probably even worse than Maine. The winters are comparable.
If you love it there then that's all that matters so why would you get your panties all bunched up about what I think? Pretty much every US state sucks now thanks to libs and Joe Biden. Sorry you're offended but I have a list of negatives about every state, not just Maine.

I’ve pretty much given up on finding the “Best” state. They all have their pros and cons. It’s just one’s personal preference. And no state is a monolith — there are a mix of folks in places like ME or MN, usually following city vs rural.

It doesn't exist. But, if a state makes a list of "worst states" then you know that's one of the good ones. "Best state" lists are the ones to avoid. I actually appreciate the crap infrastructure in TX but people are going to ruin that soon and that means higher cost of living. I feel like AR, MS, LA, or AL are highest on my list of potential places because Texas is slowly becoming California. Another decade or two. Plan ahead.
