It's been fun being back playing stuff other than slide (although the botox is starting to wear off now a bit :( Doc says a bigger dose next time should fix that! ) and lately I've been doing some heavier rhythm stuff for fun and playing my Jackson CS RR 1.5...

Now..., I love my Jackson CS RR 1.5 that I got from The Music Zoo, but it sucks to play it sitting down - you can do it, but it isn't comfortable for a long session and the upper fret access is tough even for a guy with long fingers. I decided to get a Jackson CS that would be easier to play sitting down for when I want to do (didn't want a Soloist super strat kinda thing) that so I grabbed this Custom Shop KE2 Kelly. Not a big fan of abalone inlays, but everything else was right, so I went for it. It has a Steve's Special in the bridge and a Air Norton in the neck. Not too sure about these pickups yet - the Steve's Special is real scooped and bass heavy, but otherwise loving this guitar. Dream to play... Kinda Schenker-ish, no?:

Oh, and here is my RR 1.5. Don't think I ever posted any of my own pics of it:

Love it!!!!! I find the RR's easy to play sitting down put v on right thigh and hold in classical guitar position. Keeps your wrist straight also for proper hand alignment I was told. I play my tele and Hamer studio the same way now. In Any case that is one nice looking guitar.

I love the RR but how do you get around that fret access?

I can play it sitting down just as you say, it just isn't the most comfortable for me balance-wise. I feel like I'm partially holding it up rather than just playing freely. I'd just rather play it standing up.

You don't. The guitar is limited in that way and I knew that going in as the body is exactly like Randy's original Concorde. I can actually play up pretty high because I have long fingers and I've developed a technique where I'm really holding on to the back of the body, but it is limited that way for sure.

Plus it will look great when you wear your Henning baseball shirt. :D

Killin' me with this, man... I was really hoping this photoshopped picture was dead... Now it'll be back to the top of Google images when someone searches for Henning Amplification...

I've tried to maintain a sense of humor on this one, but I get sick of seeing comments online like "What the hell is with the Henning Amps guy wearing that half shirt at the Amp Show?" as if it's actually real... :aww:

Steve

a) that pic is hilarious!...people can't tell it's not real?
b) that RR 1.5 is INSANE
c) that Kelly is a close 2nd

I have a CS KE2 as well,, I love it more every time I play it. HNGD

Those are both absolutely killer man.

I especially like the paint on the Kelly.

Also, I read about your hand issues and glad to hear you are playing.

It's not a pic I would scrutinize with a magnifying glass, so yeah I gotta admit, at first glance I had questions...... :aww: quite hilarious though

Wait....that picture isn't real? I was going to ask you about current ab routine? How much of it is diet and how much is exercise?

Man that Kelly is so sweet Steve!
Like the RR as well....but the Kelly is where its at for me.

Wow, sick pair of guitars. Where did you find the Kelly? I am always searching for a cool one but that never showed up on my radar.

Steve, flip the Steve's Special around. I majorly disliked the one in my Ibbie PGM model but, after having a conversation with Frank Falbo from Seymour Duncan, he suggested doing just that and the pup became a keeper after that.

Also, glad to hear that you are playing again.

Wild guitar Steve looks great, I couldnt play the RR 1.5 standing it was a pain in the ass for me. Why Jackson doesn't make the Concorde body style joined like the standard RR boggles my mind.
