So I was at Walmart yesterday morning and bought some Death Metal.

Anyways, the new Job For A Cowboy album just came out and it KILLS.
For fans of the band, the new album continues with the sound from Ruination. Scalpel like percision, grind and groove.
Guitar tone is sick, not sure what the used, but Genesis was VHT/5150, Ruination was 6505+ and this album lists EVH and Mesa Boogie as some equipment used. But not specifically. I'm thinking it's the 5150 III though.
Here's a taste...

This is nothing like the JFAC I remember. Good to see that they're doing real death metal now.

Talked to the younger guitarist last month at a show in Charlotte. He's using Ibanez RG's and EVH5153. Other guitarist was using a boosted dual rec. and Jackson's.

They have really, really grown as a band since I first saw them as a bunch of kids on their first east coast tour.

I don't think it's too far from their last release Ruination. Miles away from Genesis though. That Doom EP sound and pig squeal is long gone.
Hope you dig it! I do!

I don't know which album it was that I heard, but it was back when they first started to blow up. It had the pig squeals, breakdowns, etc... all the typical traits from the period. This song sounds really damn good though.

definitely digging the new stuff.
I saw them Last april, they were using the gear TH described above....but definitely had the worst sound of the night.
VERY VERY unimpressed with their live showing. Drummer was really underwhelming as well.
doesn't matter though I'll probably never end up at one of their shows again.

I'm stoked to give this record a listen.

I thought the drummer was damn good when I saw him playing with The Red Chord last year, but that was a tiny bar, not a large stage and quality PA or anything.

it didn't help that they were followed by Between The Buried and Me....absolute perfection.

Sweet! I like it. I'm happy they've completely shed the "scene" aspects and went straight up death. I was way into these guys a few years back but haven't been listening to this type of metal since. (been stuck on AAL, Karnivool, Devin Townsend and the like  )

Might just get into this new one though.

shed the scene

sounds like a scene band name! hahaha
just giving you a hard time.
I'm glad they've found their niche.

   That's great! I'd be willing to bet there is a band with that name...
If not, we should start one! We'll take over the breakdown scene like it's 2003!

That's just unfair

Saw them (JFAC) with Devildriver, Wretched, 3 inches of blood, Dying Fetus, Impending Doom, etc.
3 inches of blood had monstrous tone and presence as did Dying fetus (for their respective styles).

I saw JFAC at Gigantour about three years ago. The sounded great live. It was dependent on where in the venue you were though.
I think they have a new guitarist since then. He was a founding member and went off to med or law school or something.
