I'm surprised to hear them playing in drop B on Take Control. Never heard that from Killswitch before.
I've been listening more to Jesse's vocals and they are actually really strong on this album it's really impressive. The surgery really did wonders for him.
The songs for the most part I now think are pretty good. Big catchy choruses are almost every song, and they work. Not cheesy or sappy or anything like that.
The riffs are also pretty solid although somewhat predictable in some spots, and the guitar tones are sick as always.
There seems to be a underlining positive reinforcement message theme throughout this album, and it's actually quite refreshing to hear rather than all the negative and dark subject matter that I usually listen to.
I think the first time I listen to it wasn't hearing what I wanted to hear so that frustrated me, plus I was waiting for the new Tool release so my mindset was focussed on that.
But once I got over that and just started to listen to it for what it was, not for what I wanted it to be, I could slowly start to appreciate it.
