A JTM is a very different experience from a lead spec “Plexi”. JTM is a fatter sound, much more low end and lends itself to blues and classic rock. Single coil guitars + JTM = magic. Not than an LP won’t sound great too.

If they don’t sell for long I could see them becoming slightly collectible like the the JTM1 and JMP1. They look cool but for that money, something like the Ceriatone JTM46, all access, is a lot more appealing.

I think it sounds killer and I'm glad to see the new owners of Marshall moving in this direction and keeping with the classic sounds.

Definitely sounds great, I’ve wanted another JTM ever since I sold my JTM1. Love that fat crunch.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been any talk here of the new Orange OR30 that just came out, another killer sounding amp.

Hmm, never had that problem with it. But if you want to get a solid and tight sound from it, just like a big boy plexi, there's a few things I do: Never run the bright volume above 8. Don't jumper channels or run the normal channel at all. Run the bass on 2 or 3.

Exactly my recipe. Seems to be common sense. The tightness makes it appear like it has more gain too. I always start at 7 across the board and dial back or up as needed but my Bright never goes above 7-8 and rarely does normal channel go above 4. Components vary so every amp will be a bit diff but I'm with you.

I've been learning this lesson the last few weeks.

My tele rolls back so clean.
My junior cleans up pretty well, P90 not quite as clean as the SC's get.

Gotten to the point I only use HB's if I want straight up gain.

SV20 without the bright cap and new cosmetics
They still may have tweaked the circuit to basically be like a mid 60’s Marshall. Shared cathode, no bypass cap on V2a, possibly different value coupling caps etc. They may have less filtering..? That’s all non Master Marshall are though. Slight tweaks over the years on an established circuit.
Maybe one of the techie channels on YT will break it down one day. With the inevitable Sweetwater loaner…lol
