Hahaha I couldn't resist either, even though I pre-ordered the vinyl deluxe set. I only listened to Spit out the Bone. Damn, the chords after the "Bone" are soo awesome!
Also In this song I appreciate the guitartone more than on the first three songs for some reason. Great great song, cannot wait till the album is officially out and I let myself listen to the whole record! haha

This is a great album by Metallica, obviously the definition of great is very subjective. But what is objective is how a band like Metallica keeps reinventing themselves, trying new melodies, song structures, production, of course all inside the style that is Metallica.

If you want to listen to a modern Metallica sound like "the old stuff" you'll be disappointed since they have not been interested in mimicking the "old stuff" for a while now, but if you are interested in listening how a 30+ old band sound fresh and up to date still, then you might like this album. The problem with metal bands is that they sound THE SAME through the years....Slayer, Testament, etc sound the same for 20+ years, Megadeth, etc..... the style is the same the format is the same, even the visuals are the same. IF you want to cary your little pocket Metallica from '86 then so be it, but the Metallica that exists today is a HUGE monster that has become this big because they are not interested in being your pocket metallica.

This is a FANTASTIC album full of great great songs

They definitely are not. From the 6 I listened to, Spit out the Bone is the only one I really like so far.

So far I'm liking pretty much every song. Seems they have mixed it up again and I'm glad. Their diversity is what I really like. Think I'm going to love this album.

The songs are all over the place and I love it!! There are some LOAD type songs, fast, slow, etc. One sounds really Sabbath-y and like what they did with the video. It is these teenage black metal musicians doing the song in front of a crowd.

I have enjoyed the songs. Nice balance throughout. There is a song for every type of Metallica fan.
