Man Unkind is the weakest song....other 11 tracks are from good to great. Very solid release

No way, I like that one!!

I guess all of us are going to put on our 2 cents based on what songs we like. :)

There is something for (almost) everyone on it..LOL

Love this release! This will be huge for them & the tour as usual will be massive!

Even the remake of Lords Of Summer sounds way better!

It's a good release overall, but they haven't been miles ahead of Megadeth for a very long time. Guitar tones a little too smooth on this one. James sounds great. Super happy Metallica is still at it though. The New Testament is up there. A lot of comparisons to Load/Reload, but I don't hear anything as raw, multi-layered or structured or good as Outlaw Torn or Fixxxer or Bleeding Me.

These three songs are my favourites from those records.

I was not hoping for the best album ever, nor something which would surpass anything else. I was just hoping it would not suck and largely it does not suck to my ears.

If Lars is really using some special effects on his drumming, then that's lame. Other than that, the too obvious references to older songs are slightly annoying (such as to metal Militia in Hardwired).

I'll have the CD tomorrow and I am looking forward to it.

I'm playing along to "Murder One" right now with my electric guitar, it's fucken awesome!

The whinging I made about their guitars not crunching? Well this new song has some serious Metallica CRUNCH! Crunch Berries in spades!

There is no doubt he is using sampling on snare and kick. Most people do nowadays but listen to how perfect every hit is and there is zero dynamics, velocity on 100. TAKA TAKA TAKA TAKA. That's lame. No real drums anymore apart from the washed out cymbals buried in the mix.

The drums reminded me of the awesome snare rolls I would get on my old Roland TD7 electric drums!

I've really tried to get into the new songs but I just can't. This one is no different. For this style I think the new Testament album is better IMHO.

Unfortunate timing on this release. Compared to the new Testament this album reminds of me an athlete nearing retirement, sitting on the end of the bench with ice packs on both knees. You know they used to have it, but not any more.

Brotherhood of the Snake?

Testament does what they do, it's consistent at least...but found myself very bored by it this time around....probably just me :aww:

I'm loving this album and the more I listen the more it's hooking me. IMO to many go in expecting to much. There will never be another MOP, RTL, etc...

Here Comes Revenge has to be one of my favorite tracks at the moment.

Revenge is decent but I fill like its a missed opportunity. The lyrics are cliched' to hell. Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth, wha wha wha Burden of Proof. :aww:

Agree. I like Spit the Bone or whatever it's called. The last song on disc two. I need to listen more though. I was expecting more songs like hardwired, but only a couple are fast. So, I need more listens

Manunkind is such a badass song. Has a great Sabbath vibe to it and love the vocal.

Dream No More is cool as well, kind of a "Devil's Dance" feel.

Cool tribute to Lemmy with "Murder One". :)

It is the Metallica album that I have been waiting for. I love the groove oriented stuff from Load/Reload. This album has plenty of that and plenty of fast stuff as well. I think the album is fantastic

What he said they are killing it with this album

I like it a lot. I think it has songs that capture the sound and feel of stuff from all their previous albums. There's a lot of variety and it's all good too. I think it will be really enjoyable listening to the whole thing. I also think picking and choosing those eras of Metallica that you're in the mood for at the moment will be great. You can get a great KEA, MOP, Load, or Death Magnetic vibe without even switching albums.

James is singing in that old Black Album style and just has so much conviction in his voice, singing those lyrics.

I keep listening to the songs and finding parts I like, etc. I can't wait to get the whole record and play it in my car at full volume. :)

As someone else mentioned, "Lords of Summer" is way better now. Fits great!

After listening to this album the last two days, I have to say that with the exception of Spit out the Bone, this album sucks

I am really digging it. A few of these songs had me hooked from the first listen
