New Peavey 6505 making POPPING noise! WTF?

Every time I shut it down, it makes a big POP! Of course, I put in standby, wait a minute or 2, then POP goes the weasel when I shut it off..

When I fire it up, and take it off of standby, it has static, before it comes in. Today, (maybe my ears are playing tricks), but it sounded as if it had a tad less gain??

I don't know...I tried swapping all the preamp tubes, and no luck.
I got it via mail-order 2 weeks ago from ZZOUNDS.COM. I'd HATE to have to ship it back... What a pain in the ass! Any ideas?

arcing across the standby switch

peavey used to use high quality parts in them, nowdays its all assembled in USA with parts bought overseas from china. quality dropped big time when hartley peavey's wife passed away and he sold the company.

normal for where the standby switch is located on them.
