HAHA, I looked at the first pic without reading anything and thought that looked like Henry from Lifespeed. I used to play with Henry's brother Jay in my last coverband 10 years ago. I played many gigs at Bar A and LBI, those gigs can be a lot of fun even though you have to play crap you don't like. The Osprey in Manasquan also gets pretty nuts in the Summertime.

Damm, Henry's been at it going on 20 years now but looks like they still pack them in on Tuesdays at Bar A in Belmar. Cool that you have fun!

Dan, were you in The Brat Pack or The Life? My buddy Mike also played in a couple bands with Jay back then. We probably have a few mutual friends...

That looks totally bad ass Nick!!!! Glad your having fun out there!!!!

No, but I kinda remember those bands. Our stupid band name was poppasquat. Our singer bolted and Jay stepped in for about a year. Once you get into that scene you can jump from band to band if you choose to. There was a lot of money to be made but I've heard it's changed a bit. I'm sure the Lifespeed, Nerds, and a few other are still making enough to not need day jobs though. I know Wed. night in Hoboken the Nerds would get over $3,000.

Yeah, It's still changing. The agency's dont have the hold they once did. Bands like Lifespeed are doing well but it's nothing like it was 5-10 years ago.
The good thing is bands like mine (We are not agency represented at this time) have a shot at some better rooms. I just signed a contract with Margaritaville in Atlantic City for 11 dates between June 1st and Sept 28th for the same money that 107 Prod bands are getting at The Gypsy Bar in the Borgata...

Nice pedalboard. Great gigs. Thanks for sharing. I like the look of that first venue.

Well guys, this is the only video I have of my weekend. I know neither the song, nor the guitar playing are traditional RT-approved rock stuff (haha), but I figured what the hell.

Here's me singing "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin DeGraw. Still only my 2nd or 3rd time using IEM's for vocals - which definitely takes some getting used to. In fact, halfway thru this song, my IEMs battery died! Had to finish the rest of the song just kinda listening to the house mix in the room.

That's another thing about filling in for these cover bands. Bands like Lifespeed and others have 5 guys with lead vocal abilities. The first thing I was asked when I had to fill in was not "What songs do you know how to play". It was "What songs can you sing?"

Anyway, enjoy. Or rip me a new one!

NICE! That could very well be the biggest cover band crowd Ive ever seen! Ive been playing in original bands forever , and still do on a regular basis , but I also started a cover band a few years ago and the two worlds could not be more opposite. Everyone from club owners , promoters , bartenders etc. treat cover bands like kings! Ive played the same venues with both bands and with my cover band it is fantastic and when I roll in with my original band on a multi band bill , everyone is treated like turds the whole night . Totally different worlds , but both great in their own right

Way cool pedalboard, and hyped for you on those gigs. That looks like you had a blast. Thanks for posting it!

Cool. We were with Stars, you know the deal with them as they get their 15% from every show. But they kept us busy. Thurs through Sat were always booked and we did plenty of Wed and Tuesday shows. It was almost impossible to hold a day job and do a schedule like that with weekday shows.

I miss hanging out at Donovans Reef in Sea Bright, that was a cool place. Brian Kirk used to pack that place every Sunday and he always would invite anyone who was in other bands to go up and jam. It was always fun being half drunk and not knowing what the hell they're playing. The bass player would always yell out what chord he was on.

Lifespeed is going on 20 years of packing Bar A every Tuesday. They have been pretty consistant.

Good thinking on the underside of the board with the option to go wired or wireless. Way too much going on up top for me though. Awesome board nevertheless and FX choices!

First of all, I'm jealous of those crowds!

Great looking board! I love that TT boards allow you to neatly tuck stuff away underneath.
Have you considered doing a plexiglass cover like Pete Thorn did to protect the stuff on the underside?

"...rip you a new one" - no way, man. Nice job
You're playing and singing in front of a good crowd and having fun - that's what it's all about.

Dude, I never even thought about that... GREAT idea!
