Forgot how big Avatar cabs are.... Shout out to RT Nation member dirty loveguns for the local deal on the cab and being a good dude.

It showed up this morning, and I've been playing it pretty much ever since. I'm really loving the IMMEDIACY of it; after being a modeling guy for so long, I'd gotten used to a bit of latency and a bit of touch sensitivity loss, and that stuff doesn't really apply with this thing.

I've messed around with it for a few hours in various configurations. I've run it into a cab and tried different settings, and it pretty much loves all guitars and pedals....

I've boosted it, and used my Telemaster with ReWinds in drop C, my PRS McCarty in standard, a couple LPs in drop D and drop A with PAFs and a BKP Nailbomb. I also hit it with my Charvel with an EVH Wolfgang pickup in standard and my Jackson V with a BKP Warpig in it in drop C. I ran it into this new Avatar cab and it sounded fantastic with V30s, and then into that same cab and the direct out into the input of a little Line6 Spider 30 watt combo for FX at the same time, and it created a massive wall of sound that filled the whole room and that was a good time.

I've also run it into Reaper, with both the onboard cab sim and also using a Fryette 2x12 IR in the Two Notes WOS III plugin. It reacts really well using either, and because all I was running was the cab sim, I was able to kick my sample rate way down so there's zero latency when recording.

All the controls are really nuanced; they all affect each other and the sum total of what you hear.

Deliverance is great for low to mid gain stuff although it can get straight brutal if you want it to...Pittbull has still more gain on tap but the tones are up higher; it's sparklier and brighter. The Clean settings are just haunting and beautiful. Really responsive to volume/tone controls and I've missed that interaction with the sims I've been using.

3rd pic shows all the outputs, which as I said can be used all at once, meaning I can leave my cabs hooked up while leaving a cable attached to my interface for recording.

After all these years, I've realized that what I always really gravitate to is filthy Mesa Rectifier tones and Fryette gain and cleans, so this thing fits me pretty well right now.

I've been a modeling guy for about 4-5 years. That shit is over now, it's nice to be back.

Good for you man! It really seems that guys always come back to tubes, as good as the Kemper/Axe is, still not quite there and cannot take the place of a good tube amp. If I ever do grab a modeler it will be in addition to my tube amps, not replace. Great tools though! How many watts is the output? Thinking I can slave out to one of my power amps if need be.

Does it nail the Deliverance tone? I played a D120 years ago and thought it was incredible.

Not sure....Fryette says it's enough to drive a 1x12 cab....but I'm sitting here typing this with that 2x12 behind me that was fuckin THUMPING all day yesterday, and I know guys that have driven 4x12s with it. 1 watt amp, someone better at math than I/knows more about tube amps might be able to answer that...

3rd pic in the OP there's a line out, and you can also use the direct out into something like a Power Station/power amp for some loud rage.

People keep asking me this....I'll put it this way. Does it 'nail' it? No....because that's either a 60 or 120 watt amp and this is no where near that. It DOES have the same feel and a lot of the tone is there; you can make the tone as tight and dry or as loose and saturated as you want and it sounds and feels like a Fryette, like nothing else out there has been able to do. The AxeII can't do it, my buddy that owns both a Deliverance and a Kemper says IT can't do it either.

When you play it, you can tell what family it comes from easily...and it does this rather loudly or at pretty much whisper volumes into a 2x12 or into your DAW, which is exactly what I wanted it for.

Cool, thanks. I owned an AFXII years ago and it did not come close to reproducing the Deliverance (or Diezels; it did ok on Marshalls and Rectos, but really struggled with some other amps IMHO).

No problem man......and I know exactly what you're talking about. I sold my AxeII about a month ago for some of the same reasons, and you're right. For all the things the Axe can do, what it can't do are Fryettes, Diezels, and for me, Oranges...it wasn't even close. Amplitube 4 does Oranges better than the Axe and it's a $100 sim.

This sounds and feels much better with regards to sounding like a Fryette (or even an amp) than anything else out there I've tried.

Hey, Stein,

Do me/yourself a favor: try out your bass into the GP/DI into your DAW and see how it treats you. I haven't had a chance to do it yet. Clips would be cool also :).

Paul Schieffer claims it slays with bass, and the straight DI is supposed to be as good as any out there, including the high end guys.

Nice Scott!! Now we just need to get another modded Mesa in your hands and you will be all set
Congrats bro

Give it a shot when I get some time. Output 1 yeah? Thanks for your help yesterday man, much appreciated.

Right?! I have the little Hotone baby Recto here that sounds pretty good thru this cab but it's not the same lol.

Thanks man, that's an MJT thing I did awhile back. Really dig their work.
