Like AC DC, they have a formula that works and is always a decent to good effort. I liked parts of it enough to want to see them live. The lead playing has also improved some ..Kerry has been practicing staying in key perhaps?

I am very comfortable pretending Slayer broke up after divine intervention. They havent put out even one single good thing since then and even divine intervention is a 7/10 at best. They peaked with Seasons and its been a long painful ride since.

I own RIB/SOH/SITB and it's more than enough Slayer for me

Everything theyve done since seasons was just uninspired and aimless with no chemistry. But most bands have a peak album and then a decline and all of the metal god type bands are no different. Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, etc etc they all have a whole bunch of completely flawless and incredible albums but then they peaked and began to slide downhill. If Dimebag was still alive, Pantera would be the same Im sure, if GnR hadn't have broken up Im sure they would have also slid downhill. It's just how shit goes.

The first solo doesn't sound like Kerry to me at all. It sounded too good.... second one was def. vintage Kerry at his "best" or worst depending how you view his conceptual grasp of scales..

Maybe that was their peak, but they still managed to put some interesting and really good songs on record. Just not a whole record long. Nevertheless, an average Slayer song is still better than a lot of the stuff of other bands. And they get a plus for staying true to their roots. Let's wait for the whole album. Perhaps there are some parts of Jeff on there and as long as Greg Fidelman (the former producer who was also involved with Metallica) is not doing the production, I have hope.

It's Slayer! That's what they do and have been doing for over two decades. But people still go out and buy their CD's and watch them perform live. Their still making money off of us. Lol!
