Killer! Love the look. How is it?

I bought my first Nitro in 2008. It killed all amp gas for me. I bought a new QR in 2009 and sold it last year as I just liked the Nitro better for what I do. My 2008 Nitro is awesome but I always wished I had more saturation/gain out of it and a better volume taper. I traded my QR for a Baron Kt88 since the Baron had all the saturation I craved. In the end I still preferred my 2008 Nitro so I sold the Baron too. I took the proceeds from the Baron and got this 2012 Nitro.

This amp has all the gain and saturation I was looking for and does not lose any of the Splawn character. OD2 has been improved greatly and the loop volume is really a great tool. Scott made all the right tweaks since 2008. This amp is everything I wanted my 2008 to be....and I love that amp !

What kind of tones can it do? Anywhere in the ball park of AIC and Alter Bridge?

Oh yes. I was playing some "One Day Remains" on it today. My cover band does " Would" and it sounds great.

Awesome!

Glory! I've always wanted to see a Nitro in Plexi dress. May have to flip the head shells on my older QR and Nitro now to see the Nitro in Plexi trim and the Quick Rod in white JCM800.

HNAD!

Awesome! Would love to hear a clip of the newer version. I'm sure you are happy. I remember a few years ago when you got your first Splawn. Glad you have found a home for your tones.

Wow you have a good memory ! Once I converted from the DR to the Nitro I knew I had found the amp that best suited me. Proof is that I have bought multiple amps since my first Nitro and have have sold them all because they didn't sound like the Nitro. I have kept a 6505+ just to leave at a rehearsal space. Otherwise it would be gone too even though it is a killer piece of gear.

A video clip would be awesome...

Im working on that but I am trying to isolate some noise that is coming through my pedal board that is driving me nuts. Its the power supply on my Furman SPB8. So irritating but video clips should be posted soon.

Issue might be a bad power tube. Cannot get the squealie feedback to stop. Has to be a power tube because I swapped out all the preamp tubes.

I've got to play a Nitro. My QR is the best Marshall type amp I have ever played.

Funny i ran across this. I sent Laura some questions about Nitro's and she said talk to stompbox as he is very familiar with all things splawn.
Here is my thing, i just sold my beloved Fortin bones only because I really need 2 channels. The thing is i love hot rodded marshall tones that are very tight and articulate and i really like a lot of cut for live applications. I thought of splawn because ive always dug the clips ive heard and am really thinking about one of these to try and keep the price point a little lower. Scott said from what ive described as my tone the 2012 nitro with el34's would be best. I love the QR clips but am afraid it may be to thin compared to nitro, then i fear the nitro may be too compressed so im stumped.

Oh by the way I play metal, but its not detuned and i use a lot of dynamics. Lot of strumed octave stuff...think mastodon'ish mixed with some thrash stuff .

The 2012 Nitro has more Marshall flavor than my 2008. I actually have spent most of my time jamming old Van Halen and UFO riffs on it. My 2008 never really sounded like a Marshall to me. The 2012 has less bass and more saturation. Im still on honeymoon though.

I have not played the 2012 with my band yet but I can tell you that my 2008 will absolutely own and dominate a mix. I have never another amp that does what my Nitro does. FastRedPonyCar ( Drew) at HCaf and the Splawn forum will attest to this.

I had a 2009 QR. i never got along with it. The Nitro just aligns with my ears better than the voicing of the QR. the QR is a great amp but I just prefer a modern voiced amp.

I will try to post some clips comparing the 2008 and 2012. Im off this weekend and I plan on getting it done.

Awseome man thanks. I have heard some really good QR clips as well. Love the attack of that amp.. im just hoping the nitro would not seem bloated in comparison to the QR
