I like a lot about these guys. Had Russ as a counselor when I was at MI in 91 - MONSTER fucking player. That said, I'm finding myself less and less interested. It's not necessarily about "getting it", I get it....I'm just getting tired of it. If I tell you the same joke over and over - no matter how funny, you'll most likely laugh less and less each time......

That goes for all comedians and all bands. Comedians tend to do the same or similar sets over and over again. Bands player their hits. Not sure what you expect to see in a live show. If they don't do it, people will be upset. You aren't just seeing a band, you are seeing a show. That is what makes SP different than a regular band. If they ever drop the parody schtick, then they can drop that aspect of it. Until then, they are stuck with it. I sometimes wonder if they would be as popular without the schtick. I love them and would love to see how it would go, but they built a fan base this way and it really isn't in their best interest to drop it at this time. I mean I have a shitload of bootleg videos from various "real" bands. Many of them had various stage banter that was the same from show to show. SP is parodying them and the whole '80s movement while making fun of themselves. They have to do that while planning the pace of each show and providing consistency. Of course there is overlap. How many times do you think DLR threatened to fuck someone's girlfriend or repeated various stage banter during the first few VH tours? Same shit, different day.

I get it. Never seen them live, but if I was going to, I would absolutely expect the whole deal.

Saw them last night for the first time opening for Judas Priest........
I get the schtick, perhaps it would have translated better in a smaller setting instead of
a half full 10,000 venue, or maybe a tour of Comedy Connections.......

Merely my opinion of course.........
