New Suhr “Aura” Singlecut

Its still a piece of wood with some metal pieces on it. How much can a guitar really be worth? This would be for someone with way to much spendable income. YMMV

Well, the time of John Suhr is obviously a little more expensive than from an unknown builder. For a collector that is a nice gimmick. And looking at Gibson’s top of the shelf guitars, the price seems reasonable. But of course this instrument is not meant for everybody (including me ;) )
 
Nice guitar. Priced for the gear head? WTH..a Les Paul copy is just not a guitar anymore. Convince me the price fair.
 
Just got a one of a kind custom setneck carvetop Thorn for $3500. He did a limited run of 5 with Brazilian Rosewood necks for $5-6000. Couldn't imagine spending more for less. But I'd love to have that Aura just the same.
 
it looks nice, and I'm sure it will be a great playing guitar. That said, I'm happy with my two Les Pauls.

Also... Probably only 99 available, as I'm sure that Pete Thorn will have the first one off the line...lol!

Make that 98... I see Mr. Aldrich will get the first gold top..

The pics I’ve seen, it’s not really a beauty queen. The finish and top is nice. But the upper bout seems too wide and of course the lower curtaway has that odd point near the tip. For that $$$ I’d sure want it to be jaw dropping from every angle.

Sounds like a lot of work will go into these. I don't see Paul Reed Smith getting his hands dirty with his private stock guitars.

No question these guitars will be exceptionally well made. Are these going to go through the plek machine at all or is all the fret work going to be done by hand?

Understand the cynicism with it being a take on a classic design, but these guitars are going to be put together and finished personally by a true pioneer of the business. Named after the missus, no less.
Private Stock PRS guitars can't claim to be anywhere near as unique and exclusive as these guitars will be, hand built by the face of the company.
No 'library' of timber we're expected to bow to in awe and pay a ridiculous premium for.
 
count me in as one that doesn't get it... Gibson is the only company to buy a guitar from that looks like that , im sure its great but nah

Even as a person that just bought a new Gibson, I don't get that statement at all. There are so many great single cut builders out there why limit yourself to a builder that often time takes its customers for granted?

Unrelated:
Is it expensive? Sure shit it is. You're also getting the best in the business doing the work. How much does a limited Nik Huber cost? What about a LP True Historic? I've seen some at $10k. Sorry you can't afford it. Maybe they'll make a production model not worked on by the man himself.

$7995 for a burst finish, I think $7495 for a gold top.

And PRS Private Stock can be one of a kind. Doesn’t get more unique and exclusive. But I don’t think PRS is personally involved in building them. A Private Stock order runs a minimum of few grand more than these Suhrs.

The Suhr is a nice enough looking guitar. But I think it’d rather just buy a fancy Gibson. Which also is funny to me because probably the majority of guitar players seeing a guy with a Suhr Aura wouldnt know what a Suhr is and would think that the guy bought an LP copy because he couldn’t afford an real Gibson.
