New (to me and possibly most of you) artist

I can’t remember the last time I came across a young artist and was genuinely blown away by songwriting (music and lyrics) as well as incredible ability on an instrument with a really strong backing band.

It ain’t straight up rock n roll, but thoughts?

Love Billy Strings and he has some very different takes on bluegrass on some of his albums, you could maybe call it progressive bluegrass or something. He also used to play metal although I don’t think any band he was in released anything. I saw a clip of him a while back where he was wearing a None So Vile shirt and I thought hey now, that’s not the kind of thing somebody has on accident or to be some ironic hipster.

Read the same about his metal days and I can’t even imagine him shredding on an electric…ears would melt off faces I think.

I’m genuinely stunned at how good he is. Really cool to experience it!

I think Billy plays the David Lindley parts on this, and handles some of the vocals. Impressive job.
