They are TIGHT, I like 'em, just usually listen to more melodic stuff in general. They are hard to beat at what they do

If you want to grab a Satan and get a great price on it, why not grab it and save the cash left over for something else. NOS is a bit cork "snifferous" for my tastes. Preamp tubes ok, I can see it and have a few myself that I like in v1. But resistor and caps? Yes there is a slight different but why not go with something like a Sozo if you want to lean on the old school theme. Burn it in and it will kick just as much. Over time those resistors and caps will settle in and you will have a fantastic sounding amp. I wouldn't pay more for NOS.
You're right man, the Meshuggah guys must be idiots. Why switch from the Satan's they were using to these new handmade Fortins, they should just be using DSL100H's. I mean it has so much gain, and everyone know they can be set to sound close enough...what the hell were they thinking?!

Lighten up, Francis. He is not saying that at all. Besides, Gary Holt used DSL's on tour with Slayer (don't know if he still does that).

Dunno why you make that generality - you can get 4 gain stages out of two preamp tubes. That's plenty to get high gain. My Bottle Rocket only uses three gain stages and even without the extra clipping circuits engaged it's gainy as hell. It all has to do with how the gain stages are built...Luca79":3kpbf25v said:Maybe they will use the amps for different purpose... usually amps with 3 preamps don't have a lot of gain.

It actually does sound like he's saying that. Besides, who gives a shit what Gary Holt uses? Does that have any relevance to the discussion or validate the point in any way?![]()

Hey..can either of you two help me refill my blinker fluid??cecilbag":z5j15v86 said:steve_k":z5j15v86 said:Tone is in those nano-fiber tone pads. Self-leveling, tidal compensating, dynamic foam. Separates tonal frequencies, balances power in the tubes and keeps the transformer fluid level correct.
Words of wisdom. Do NOT try and activate the 3rd gain stage without the flux capacitor overwound with original PAF wire.

It was pretty catchy.

I wouldn't expect Meshuggah to get they're sound from a plexi style amp.
Always heard great things about Fortin.
I don't think they are plexi style inside![]()
