I haven't made a major (major to me that is) purchase in awhile, last week I purchased:

A new BC Rich Stealth - Chuck Schuldiner Tribute and a used Mesa Boogie Triaxis, and gave them a go today...very enjoyable.

No time to take pics, so here are stock pics of each. :D

Nice guitar for the money IMO. Dig the X2N. Sounds great with the Triaxis.

Plan to do some Triaxis programming and integrate it into my G-System direct rig.

Hope this kills my Engl GAS for awhile. :aww:

:) Very cool ... I had a Triaxis a long time ago...

Much congratulations!!!!!! HNRD

I love the X2N - its actually a very transparent pickup, not thick like a JB or Distortion.

Hard pick to choose from a triaxis versus an engl, preamp wise though i think the triaxis is the better winner

I hear a lot of people saying "I used to have a Triaxis." Why did everyone get rid of them if they're so great? (Would LOVE to have one, but the $$$...)

Congrats. Loved my triaxis. I had to get rid of it for something with knobs but some great tones in that little box.

Thanks guys!

I still have other preamps, never owned a Triaxis or Engl (still don't, on the wish list), so this is new territory for me. It seems the Triaxis is similar to the ADA MP-1, many people had them and no longer do. I still have my main ADA MP-2, and the Triaxis is just much clearer and dimensional sounding (from memory, haven't AB'd them yet, as I'm still learning the Triaxis). I was pleasantly surprised by the clean factory presets on the Triaxis...very clean but still some hair/life on the edges; i.e.,. not pristine clean. Digging this 1U box.

I also noticed Mesa is (still?) selling new Triaxis, list price is $1,999! $100 more than the Engl E570 is retailing new. The recent discount codes at MF did not apply to the E570, seems Engl is excluded. :(

I used rack kit back in the day (prior to that it was tube and SS amps (I had a Sunn Beta Lead)), then moved to tube amps and pedals, but I'm slowly going back to rack, with my G-System controller on the floor...much more versatile and set-up/teardown. Since I'm not in a band these days, I'm seriously considering a single rack with all my preamps, maybe a rack wireless and my G-Sytem rack "brain"...

Not sure if this exists, but I'd like some kind of MIDI switcher that will let me select one of the preamps, and then the preset, and even MIDI CC if supported by the preamp. I'll probably have 6-8 preamps before I'm done...unless new preamps are released. ;) Does this device exist? In a 1U size? Even better if it can be controlled by my G-System's MIDI. Probably start a new topic on this at some point.

The X2N cleans up nicely with the guitar volume, which is all the Stealth has for control. At full volume and digging in I was able to get a nice snarl and bite breakup using a clean Fender tube amp (my Deco Tone = Custom Shop Blues Jr.)...these amp settings stay clean with my Rics and Casino (P-90s) which are lower output pickups.

Mine was stolen in 1997 with the rest of the rack..... it is a very cool tool.

I think I'm finally on to something that is really working for me...

Spent more time with my Triaxis, researching the Two Notes Torpedo and my new rack case should arrive in a few days so I can rack my G-System and Triaxis and get to dialing in a few presets and banks using this kit...

I definitely dig the variety of tones I'm getting just from the Triaxis direct to my FRFR. I'm finding it much easier to get a wide range of amp tones I dig compared to my experience with various modelers...can't wait to get this rack assembled.

Next up will be an Engl E 530...I've got enough kit around here to make another small rack direct rig with the E 530 at its' core...

At present, the Triaxis sounds good "as is", to where I may hold off on the Torpedo for awhile...it is on the short list though

If this keeps up, I will have some gear to sell...

Because this is rig-talk and we are like flies on a turd when it comes to gear.

Have you used the Free Two Notes software ?

No, I have not. Reading/hearing goo things about it.

I don't have a recording set-up (working on that too, learning a DAW and recenly purchased EZ Drummer, need to get an audio interface)...just trying to get to a point where I'm satisfied with my direct rack for guitar. My bass rig is set (Ric 4003 and TC Electronic RH450 or my old Trace Elliot MP11).

Once I have an audio interface, I may give the Two Notes software a try to see how it works with my Triaxis tones, and the affect before buying the CAB.

Me either ... I was spoiled with a friend that had a studio. Studio now gone I am checking out all options.
I figure line out from my Hot Plate or from a preamp into the free stuff around will cover most of my needs. Check out free before I buy anyway.
Pretty much always want a other 20/50 G in gear .... but free is closer to my real budget...

Been thinking about getting this one http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/sou ... ortion.php or the one you have.
Been into the over the top stuff more recent. This looks very interesting...

the Source Audio Multiwave Distortion is alotta fun. the way it responds to attack and how the overtones morph on decay and respond to guitar volume controls creates interesting sounds. the 7-band GEQ takes it even further, seems like I can really shape the overtones...

for recording, I'm looking at this usb audio interface from Focusrite: http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio ... rlett_2i2/

Thanks for the advise on the GEQ.... I rather spend a little more and get what I want the first time. being able to tune it to the rest of my rig it makes sense. This fits right in with new directions I am looking for in sound.

The Focusrite stuff is nice .... I want a few more ports myself.

For the MWD, I figured I'd use the GEQ to better shape the tone specific to the effect I'm after; having the EQ per preset, self-contained in the pedal provides the most flexibility.

I only need two inputs at present: 1 for bass; I'd use two for guitar so I can have two tracks (left, right) recorded at once...not sure...I'm used to studios with engineers from back in the day, DAW self-recording is new to me...I have much to learn with not much spare time!

If I need more ins/outs I'd sell this one, and upgrade.

There's a Scarlett with 8 in / 6 out and another with 18 in / 6 out:

http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/

Then their more high end options...
