Just messing around in open B major. (Hevy Devy tuning FTW;) Guitar was a Schecter C-1 Classic, JB in bridge. String guage is WAY too light for this tuning.  9-46

Used my iphone, but I can't figure out how to publish to youtube in HD??? Kinda boring riffs, but I'm mostly messing with dialing in my amp for heavier tones and wanted to show a different side of my amp than my usual clips. Anyway, hope you enjoy it...or not.

Sounded pretty good and tight, but It wasn't like the type of massive low and tight. It would sound really good if you turned the bass up or something. I liked the riffs, sounded a lot better than the typical fizzy scooped rectifier.

Thanks
I had turned the bass down a bit to try to get more definition. Also, the light string guage wasn't helping at all either. Those things were like rubber bands! I'll try to borrow my buddy's baritone and do another one with more bass. Eventually I'd like to do a properly mic'd recording also. This thing gets huge and thick in the low end and would probably "fart-out" my iphone mic. Thanks for watching:)

I think it sounds pretty kick ass. Even though you say the strings are too light, it still sounds quite thick. A lot of the times I use thick strings in Drop C, and they still sound muddy. Then, after i dial the bass down a little bit, it doesn't sound heavy enough. I still have to say though, that your tone is much better than mine. I give you props

I play it all Jerry! Loves me some heavy stuff, but I play a lot of 70's 80's 90's rock and other genres too.

Sounds totaly fricking tight and bassy enough!

Iz be da producea! And too much bottom end blows on recordings and in the live mix for that matter...

So you have a Friedman modded recto???

BTW... I use 11's for drop C...

Thanks much brother! Yeah, the older I get, the less low end I like in my tone. I like that throaty thick sound, but not the boomy bass. It has more punch than it seems when you're sitting in front of it, this was just my iphone mic picking up the sound and doing a mediocre job of it. :dunno: Anyway, a recto with the bass turned down is still thicker than most amps with it cranked.

Yep, sent my amp to Dave last Sept. for a one-off mod and got it back in Nov and couldn't be happier! I asked him to do whatever he wanted, just that I wanted it tighter and sweeter with no fizz. He did all that while retaining the crushing recto sound. Not my end all amplifier, but for big modern rock/metal rhythms it's awesome! Sounds really killer when blended with another amp with more mid content! Thanks for listening!

Sounds great, very tight sounding and enough low end for me.

I thought Devy tuned to open C though?

He did up until the last album, then he took it down to B. Thanks!

It's only cookie monster if a "singer" is gargling marbles over the top of it.  I write stuff like this with no vox. A lot of spacey, instrumental, odd time-signature metal. It actually has a lot of melody in the other guitar parts blended in with it. I'm slowly putting an album together.

I don't have anything against screaming in metal though. Some music needs it. I love KSE, LOG, Textures, Periphery, Sikth, I could go on and on.

You can tell I play a lot of classic rock stuff too. Just watch the Surreal More demo I made for ya and my other Friedman recto demo vids ;)

Sounds cool. Way smoother and tighter than any DR I have ever heard.

I really dig that.

Thanks guys! Killer, I was actually watching Fortin vids the day I played this. Got inspired by your Evil Pumpkin. I'd love a Fortin Mod to pair up with this head. I was under the impression that Mike's mods stay "hard" sounding all the time, but your tele video changed my mind on that. And the metal stuff is tight as f*ck!

Thanks for watching:)

EDIT: jUst wanted to add this- I got this type of tone with just a tube swap and careful dialing. The tube change to JJ KT77s and GZ34 rectifier got me about 80-90% there, and Dave's mod sweetened and tightened it all up.

Thanks! You get some great heavy tones, so I appreciate that coming from you:) The road case is a Rock Hard. I got lucky and found it used for cheap at a Music-Go-Round store.

Thanks! I think I have something weird with my monitors in my room, because I always have to record everything very thick, and then on other peoples systems, it sound boomy, and on my speakers it is thin...
How much was the friedman mod for your recto? I may want to get this done to my triple or even my recto preamp sometime.
