Will never get built.

Rendering looks like it was stolen from a 90s video game box cover.

Guess we'll see.

FWIW, I was part of the initial vendor team designing the onboard computing hardware, software and networking infrastructure and systems for the US Navy DD-21 next generation destroyer program. After the downse;lect in 1998 and into the program the mission was redefined in 2002 and became the DD-X program (by which time I was not part of the design team).

Not uncommon for changes to be made since these programs take many years to ramp up and deploy the first vessel, and they have to adjust as events unfold. Unless a demoncrat takes the white house after Trump, at least the USS Defiant Trump-class battleship is likely to be built.

...and the artist rendering is consistent:

This is just going to be another black hole to throw hundreds of billions down the toilet so a couple people can make huge gobs of cash. MIC can't even make a new rifle, they just wasted 5 billion making a hunk of trash with the Sig Spear. Right after they wasted 20 billion with the failed M10 Booker, after wasting 5 billion with the OA-1k, the LCS are pieces of shit and now they are cracking their hulls and going to be scrapped soon which wasted 100 billion+ for like 10 years of use. Everything in this country is corrupt and retarded.

Gotta finish off the bankruptcy of the US..............38 Trillion with 1 Trillion every 90-100 days..............the end must be in sight so the globalists can bring about a GREAT RESET of the financial system. Of course private DEBT of citizens will not be expunged.

Carriers, Battleships and Destroyers are obsolete in the age of hypersonic missiles.

The DoD, US Navy and many others with greater knowledge and expertise in these areas than any of us here, would disagree with that.

One of the Navy's primary missions is to project power (aka intimidation). For every offense, there is / will be a countering defense.

Not only that, they will bring firepower closer to the other countries including our own hypersonic missiles. Very few countries have the capability to seriously threaten or attack the US Navy as long as politicians don't "tie their hands" like they did / do during most wars with overly restrictive "rules of engagement". Those countries that do have the capability to attack the US Navy are also well aware of the military capabilities above, beyond and behind a US Naval fleet.

The USA didn't become the world's biggest bully by accident; and we're not going to stop now.

When the first hypersonic missile is fired at a US carrier we shall see if it can defend itself.:dunno:

The Worlds Biggest Bully is 100% bankrupt, hence the lashing out.

Plenty of fiat currency; Fed just ended QT, and in December 2025 alone they added $45B. Just wait until they get the money printers running at full speed in 2026.

Enjoy the ride to the economic collapse and get to a good location before the uprising begin with the food shortages; we probably can ride this for another 20 years I'd guess.

I'm actually exploring other islands that are more remote than my current island home.

Not sure when those capabilities will be retrofit to existing ships... the golden fleet is a new concept, with the Defiant being the first ship of the fleet. Reading between the lines, it seems we have some ship defenses for hypersonic attacks, that have already been tested and have successfully "shot down" a hypersonic missile - if you believe the reports...and that was in controlled test conditions, not actual combat.

The Defiant will have the most advanced ship self-defense systems, though defense is listed as its third primary mission; these systems are designed to be modular, and more easily upgraded into ships designed for these modular systems...

A Trump class Battleship? is it painted orange and is powered by windbags? Doesn't need a fleet of other ships and is only interested in it's own protection? Cool!

Not sure why they didn’t just design it to look like a giant cock with a bow that bends to the right and call it the U.S.S. 12 Piece Bucket.

….meanwhile a small group with some laptops in Belarus will have the capability to cripples major portions of our power grid or shut down water processing for the price of weekend trip to Palm Beach.

Further bloat for the military while devastating our citizens economically. That always goes well. Defense contractor welfare at it’s best, while we seem to have no money for education, healthcare, childcare and decent public transport.

And hopefully no more sneak attacks like the USS Cole, I'm sure security has improved drastically.
