Long story short, I picked up a jcm 900 half stack over the weekend for $450. When the guy showed up to meet, the top slant portion of the baffle was disconnected and was moving freely in the cab (why I got the half stack for $450)

Once I got it home, I pulled the back off to reattached the baffle, and the screws In the top speakers were also very loose, and we're able to move around as well.

So I I thightened ALL speakers and ALL baffle screws, buttoned it up and plugged in. Immediately noticed the cab sounded farty, mostly sounding like the speakers were distorting on palm mutes. Overall I think the cab actually sounds good, but it really seems like something is wrong with the speakers.

I made a comparison to my good 1960 cab and recorded clips. You can pick up on it in the clips fairly easily. Are the speakers just bad, or could something else be an issue?

Good speakers.

Is there a screw through the pack panel into the center baffle/brace?

Is everything in proper phase?

Good question, every wire was still connected when I opened it up so I didn't think to check this.

Yes sir. Every screw on the back panel is now tight as well.
