that picture stinks of bad photoshop sharpie art. good christ.

A few them (Alex) almost look like carboard cutouts.

Just looking at DLR's maniacal smile and I don't even want to hear the new stuff. Unbelieveably though, Eddie is looking better. :dunno:

This from melodicrock about the 1st new pic:

Captured at an undisclosed venue in Los Angeles, are (L-R) Alex Van Halen; Wolfgang Van Halen; Eddie Van Halen; Jimmy Iovine, Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M Records; Irving Azoff, Executive Chairman of Live Nation Entertainment and Chairman and CEO of the Front Line Management Group; Steve Berman, Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M Records; David Lee Roth; and Jim Urie, President and CEO, Universal Music Group Distribution.

So there you have it folks...the first new Van Halen picture since 2008....taken Monday at The Roxy club in LA, whilst shooting a video for the first single from their upcoming new studio album due early next year. I had mentioned previously that a source told me that the band also filmed out door footage about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully we'll be seeing that clip sooner rather than later.

In related news...a little more information from my source connected to Columbia Records. The told me that manager Irving Azzoff handles the Van Halen's, while David Lee Roth continues to retain his own independent management. Azoff and Columbia had agreed on terms, but DLR met with Columbia and went back with his manager and said he wanted "something in LA, something hip, somehting that was "cool" do a video", whch apparently he felt wasn't being presented by Columbia. DLR won, Azzoff went with the Van Halen's who agreed with DLR.

The only text included with today's picture release was "Want to know why? Stay tuned..." So I guess that official announcement is finally in the pipeline.

Finally, I have been searching for an update on the rumored Grammy Announcement Concert appearance by the band November 30 - as of this week - that appearance is ON.

Where's Mike & Sammy ???

i guess you've been living under a rock the past 10 or so years?

Mike was kicked out so Wolfie could take his place and for no real other reason than that.

Sammy vs DLR has been a trivial issue for years, there are loads of interviews where Sammy has explained the drama involved. It was a battle even for when VH was inducted into the rock hall of fame as to which lead singer would be involved in the honorary assignment.

No Mike or Sammy this day in age, sad but true.

I'm a big DLR fan and to me VH without him really isn't VH. That said, the guy looks and seems to move like a cheesy retired gameshow host who lives in a retirement home with pink flamingos on the front lawn. He looks like a bobble head up there and long gone are the days of jumping spinning back kicks... replaced instead with something that can't even hold up to a yngwie front kick! Let's hope the voice can deliver on the new album..

On the last tour David did a pretty good job of the spinning back kicks in KC. I was actually surprised. There will be sarcasm anywhere there are 80s bands still making music, especially bands like Van Halen. I am guessing even at 20% of their former selves they will put out something better than 99% of what I hear on the radio. That is not to say there is not good music out there, just not on the radio.

Also Wolfie looks a lot more fit, I wish them the best. I really enjoyed watching them and Chickenfoot in the last couple of years. I thought Chickenfoot was a more enjoyable energetic show overall but nevertheless it was fun seeing guys rock out instead of whine in their cheese or sing like my neighbors lawn mower on a bad day.

Van Halen (the band) pretty much died in 1981 after Fair Warning. Why prolong the pain?

Thats a room full of old white guys anyways.....
There's one youngun in there.

Yeah, we'll, they're still white... Whatever that's supposed to mean.

It means the new CD will suck and Eddie's tone won't be like his old one and he will have lost his fire and Dave will have stupid lyrics and can't do his high pitch squeals anymore and MA's background vocals will be missed and Wolfgang can't play or sing and......

:D

I don't think Eddie's tone is bad at all on the last few albums. I actually like it as much as on the very first albums.
Far from been the same, but bad? Listen to everything with an electric guitar released since 78 and let me know which one is worse. I guarantee you the last three VH albums have better guitar sound than 99% of everything else.

back in VH prime they were awesome.. but god damn give it up, already.. you all are legends, rock gods.. have enough cash to buy small countries.. so retire.......please...

Actually the reason DLR is on the other side is to balance the photo. They are fanned out in relation to height. Little photography trick, nothing more.

why so much VH bashing? i know they are fucked up and all but its the mighty VH (sans mike, wich is just wrong), they deserve the benift of the doubt. would a LED ZEP reunion be treated the same, after all they are older than dirt. not trying to start any shit just surprised at most peoples reaction. i wish them the best and hope the new music kills

So did they change colors during the transition between rules and sucks? This is important stuff and I need answers.

Wow!

People love to hate - just as much as they love to love
... maybe more!

Why don't we all just wait and treat it like a new/no name band and compare it to all the ABSOLUTE SHIT that's crammed down kids throats on the radio and MTV these days!

Which of us looks and acts and has the speed and strength we did 30 YEARS AGO?

jEEEEEZ... Give them a break.

ps/// Nobody - NOBODY would love to relive a 1981 Fair Warning Tour concert just for 2 hrs, more than me! It just doesn't happen that way.

Keith
