Next bike...

I just closed the deal for my next bike. Not final I suppose until I sign the paperwork and pay for it.

Going to pick it up Wednesday.

Rare, basic, hard taiil, big engine, open primary, chain drive, not raked or stretched much...


Should be easier to maneuver around town than my Big Dog. Hate the pinstriping, great there's little chrome, satin black, no front fender will not be fun in the rain, may have to address that; needs mirrors too.

Tell me a bit more about it. Is it made in the USA? I notice the chain drive which is in some ways more sensible that a belt + more power of course (try and replace those!!! omfg!!!)... I like the primary! What is the engine? I agree about the lack of mudguard at the front being a bit of a PITA... it looks great without it but it's not exactly practical include for getting the engine filthy... Probably fine for a nice sunny day with dry roads but that's a bit limiting sometimes! I extended my short mudguard with a plastic extender to stop that. Hopefully you can find something that is better aesthetically than what I did lol. I was just too cheap to buy a wrap around version and have it sprayed. Maybe one day.

Yes, made in USA, custom built by a small Florida custom shop in the early '00s; they're no longer in business like many after the big chopper craze back then.

S&S Super 113 ci motor, Baker 6-speed transmission, springer front-end with shock absorber, hardtail frame.

it's a little rough looking, but I never really liked the fancy bikes with all the bling and expensive paint jobs. it won't get much attention from non-riders because it looks plain, probably needs new tires, oil change, and a good carburetor cleaning, and to be run for awhile

edit: new brake lines, maybe a clutch cable too...and mirrors as I mentioned before. doesn't have turn signals either, most drivers are clueless about hand signals so, that's another thing on the list.

The reason I cite for keeping my Harley long term is "a harley is a harley is a harley"... now I know technically yours isn't a Harley - but you get the sentiment... A cruiser is a cruiser. I don't care if it gets older or isn't the newest model or whatever. Your one looks bad ass - that's all that matters.

I like sport bikes too, but they push new tech every year; these old v-twin cruisers are basic, somewhat timeless classics that don't need to change IMO. They're also good for the roads around here, no mountains, no twisties, so a sport bike would be wasted here.

I've taken my Big Dog into town, narrow streets, cobblestones, traffic, not a great place to ride a long raked and stretched bike; that's better on more open roads and longer distance rides. This next bike with a shorter more standard wheelbase will be better around town, easier to maneuver though they're both S&S engines, Baker 6-speeds, hard tails.

It's more interesting to ride every day at sane speeds on the street than a sports bike imo. I like having both but I often prefer riding my softail.

New bike is home. Long road trip to get it.

Needs a new battery should be delivered tomorrow.


A little rougher than expected; caught in a few tropical rain storms on the way home yesterday. Needs a good cleaning.

Applied for the new title today; once it's ready to ride, I'll get it insured and registered.

very comfortable, easier to control than my chopper. that open primary is very close to my left boot heel tho'

end of retirement gifts for now!

Headlight is very bright, not sure what kind of bulb is in it.

Your new bike is about as chopper as you can get without being full on chopper without stupid long forks! I like it........:yes: My Mastiff pro-street was about as raked as I would want a bike.

My lower back hurts just looking at that bike..............:LOL:

On a side note I found a non-digital pic of me and my 2003 Big Dog Mastiff in my old shop so I scanned the pic into my computer. No you don't get to see my lovely visage..........God I loved that color silver as well as the bike.

2007 Buell Lightning was my last bike I sold in 2009 during my divorce. I haven't gotten another since, I enjoyed what I had. I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 softtail that I slammed and completely customized for a few years before I bought the Big Dog.

I've ridden bikes since I was a kid, things were dangerous before cell phones but now I see people won't put them down while driving I'm not sure if I'll get another. If I were to get one it would be a silver Streetglide.
