If I had planned on this from scratch (buying new pups before hand), I prolly would've gone the cream ring and zebra route, it's a hot look...but since I'm happy with the current neck pup and just ordered a black faced Duncan Custom to pair with it, I'm pretty much satisfied with things. Some white rings might be in order though, you're right, but for now I like it, a very 80's look IMO, reminds me of Tony MacAlpines early guitars actually (white Kramers, chrome HW, black rings, pickups and knobs). Thing about black rings, they're damn near universal, I see 'em on dso many different configs of body colors and hardware types. I think chrome rings would be just to gawdy for me.

Leave the rings off. It allows the winding on the pickups to breathe better. Allows for a bigger, more open sound.
